Tasha: I know it’s just a mixer but it’s much better than my previous mixers. The mixing tines are thinner but still very strong, being thinner they mix extremely well and spin the excess off much easier. Would recommend and buy again!

The ScottsThe Scotts: Using a (one) dough hook, and getting a good grip on the jar, this is great for mixing natural peanut butter, including crunchy.
Don't turn the mixer on until after you get the dough hook into the peanut butter jar.
Start with the slowest speed and gradually increase as you feel comfortable.
Turn the mixer off before taking it out of the peanut butter.
I am referring to real NATURAL peanut butter, just peanuts and salt.
The no-stir "natural" that still has some added sugar and palm oil, etc; I don't count as natural.
I purchased this mixer, April 26, 2019, from The Kitchen Clique, shipped by Amazon.
I think our previous mixer was a Sunbeam.
I used a regular beater on the Sunbeam to mix peanut butter, before.
Eventually, the motor just got too tired to keep mixing the PB.
When I got this Braun hand mixer, I started out using the regular beater, as well.
I had to get a really, really, good grip on the jar and push the beater into the jar before I started up the mixer.
The regular beater worked, but gave the Braun motor a good workout.
If you loosen your grip on the jar, it might take off.

David Chabot: Overall good for me. To whip eggs for a cake, I need to set it near max speed (9/10).
Still more silent than my old one, and better speed control at low speed, with plenty of torque.

Kindle Customer: Braun products are quieter, they last long, and are easy to use/clean. Not huge and clunky like other brands who think they can own extra real estate in cupboards I don't have room for. Forget the Cuisinarts and Kitchenaid brands - I've tried them but they don't last. I always will come back to a Braun.

D. Earls: Just received this yesterday, first use this morning. After a hiatus of several years, I started making bread again this fall, and am now baking twice a week. My wife had encouraged me to use her KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, labeling it the gold standard of mixers. Takes up huge space on the counter, but is so heavy you don't want to get it out and put it away. In the past I had used 220-watt hand mixers from both KitchenAid and Cuisinart, and while they did fine at kneading, the effort caused the mechanism that secures the dough hooks in both mixers to fail, and the dough hooks kept falling out.
The Braun 5100 offers a compact and more powerful alternative to the stand mixer (350-watt motor vs 325-watt on the stand mixer). From what I've read, the KA Artisan should be used for"occasional' breadmaking, suggesting it would not stand up long to twice-weekly outings. The single dough hook doesn't knead as effectively as two dough hooks. And who wants to be responsible for burning out his wife's 20-year old mixer?
It also offers a sensible alternative to less powerful hand mixers. The on-off switch is easy to reach, and the motor won't run unless the beaters/dough...

I knocked off a star because Braun customer service could not answer my questions about the CA Prop 65 warning on the product. They cannot tell me what chemical on the Prop 65 list is present or may be present in the product, nor will they share the materials used on the product. As a consumer, I have some concerns about this, but figured this is probably just a "CYA" warning on a product to which the warning doesn't likely apply. I wish Braun would be more transparent about the materials and manufacturing process used, especially as this product is designed for contact with food.
