cécile Gallizzi: Ce guide est exceptionnel ! Hyper complet ! Le seul regret c'est qu'il n'existe pas en version française... Avis aux amateurs de traduction ?
Je souhaiterai que ce type de guide existe en français et pour d'autres pays également.
Je recommande !!

Claudia: Finally a guide full of information in Uganda.
I particularly appreciate the ornhitologic section and I find rare the attention dedicate to wild animals.

JOHNNY WALKER: 6TH EDITION PREPARES ONE FOR THE JOURNEY TO THE PEARL OF AFRICA AS BRANDED BY SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL ON HIS VISIT. IT IS TRULY THE TROPICAL PARADISE I VISITED MUCH MORE THAN THE NEIGHBOURING COUNTRY WHERE I WAS BORN AND RAISED. NEVER EXPERINCED SUCH A TYPE OF RICH AND RED TYPE OF SOIL AND GREENERY AND THIS EDITION SUMS UP MUCH MORE THAN I KNEW OF UGANDA WHICH IS THE HEART OF FLORA, FAUNA AND NATURAL RESOURCES.REASONABLY PRICED BY THE SELLERS AND AMAZON.COM

M. Louise: Used this book for 2 trips to Uganda working with an NGO to help street kids. It was the best travel book I found. Info was great - money, health, security, history, travel, lodging and culture. Wish I had it for the first 3 trips. We even went on a game drive and boat ride in Murchison Falls National Park and saw great wildlife. A must read before you go and take it with you!

TMurph: Its actually pretty difficult to find a Guide for Uganda, and I hated to be parted from my usual Lonely Planet Guides, but this book has been great, I love the History info at the beginning, and although I tend not to use the books when I'm actually in a place, preferring to read up before, I found myself consulting this book throughout my trip. It was great.

Christine M. Foster: I bought this guide before going to Uganda to work for 6 months as a volunteer nurse. I researched the country extensively, as I planned to travel while there and this book, was by far the best and most helpful. I took it everywhere and it became my "bible". The main criticism I have of Uganda travel guides, is they didn't prepare me about how very few Ugandans speak English. I went all over the country and only the Ugandans who can afford to pay school fees and go for their entire lives, speak enough English to communicate. Each village in Uganda has it's own unique language and there is no commonalities between the hundreds of languages. The doctors with whom I worked were only able to communicate with those from their specific village. If you stay in Kampala, many speak great English, but not really anywhere else. This was a big surprise to me. One more tip...credit cards are not accepted anywhere, because of fraud and I also recommend you trade back all your Ugandan shillings before you leave the country, as it's basically worthless anywhere else. Just a few tips no book included.

yrstruly.: i love bradt guides for their detailed information. this book was indispensible on my recent trip to uganda. however, i do wish it provided a little more background and practical information on gorilla tracking. many people who go to uganda do so for tracking and it would have been helpful to have more information about the different gorilla families, the pros and cons of each tracking location, etc. other than that, it's a great guide.

Paul S: I've traveled to over 40 countries in the past 15 years and read between 1-3 travel guides before going to each country.
This is one of the best travel guides I've ever read. Very detailed, current, no superficiality. Strong on history, sights and culture. I really can't think of how this book could have been improved.
And read Abyssinian Chronicles before you go to Uganda. Wonderful character development and a Ugandan's perspective on history and culture in that country.
