BougeRV Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charger for Fast Charging

Marie: I needed a level 2 charger for my Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV and this was my choice. I already have NEMA 6-20 220v power in my garage so this was a no brainier. Works just as it should - fast. The Hyundai 110v charger that came with the car like all level 1 chargers is super slow charging. I guess it's just fine if you only charge overnight but if you want to top off your EV during the day quickly then Level 2 is the only way to go.

MarbellaSD: UPDATE: After I posted the original review, BougeRV contacted me and greed to send me a replacement, which is working properly. So their customer service is excellent and they check reviews. Changed rating to 4 stars. Hope this one lasts for a while!

I purchased this EV charging cable for $330+ when we got a new car that only came with a 110V cable. (Our prior EV, a Tesla, came with both 110 and 220V.) It worked well but then we started having problems with charging several months ago. We had the car checked out with the dealer to eliminate problems with the car's port or software. Finally we determined it was the cable. I wrote to customer service last month and provided the requested documentation. They responded that it was out of warranty--1 year--and offered an $80 credit towards buying a new cable. I was annoyed, to say the least, because a cable at this price shouldn't have such a short life. (Our Tesla cord worked for almost 10 years before we sold the car, and is probably still working!) Melomaniac !: Bought this back in 5/2020 to have as a portable charger but have only recently started using it regularly due to new work location in 5/2022. Charger works excellently and with the rugged build it is perfect for outdoor type use which is how it is being used currently. The long cord also adds to it's flexibility when charging at off site locations. Charge times are robust when compared to my home charger (240V/50amps), work is 208V/50amps and this charges faster than at home. Work has an almost direct
connection from the 208V to the charger, no long run like at home hence the quicker times. This charger has the ability to accept all levels of voltage without any issues.

Highly Recommended !

12/01/2023 update - Have used this charger almost every work day (Monday thru Friday) for the past 14 months at an external unprotected location (can get wet when it rains) and have had zero issues. Very happy with the purchase !
