Paul Nickelchok: The first unit had to be returned right away and the second failed before the first year. Contacted bonavita about the warranty and they said the shipping and import fees to Canada would be higher than a new unit!

Absolutely deplorable customer care. I feel as though they do this on purpose.

It did make good coffee until it started to smell and taste strongly of plastic.

Amazon Customer: I should have trusted the reviews. Similar to others comments, this product makes great coffee however the carafe is made of the thinnest glass. I though that I would be far more careful than other who had commented on the fragility of the carafe. I was wrong. Two weeks in, I gentle touched it against the sink while washing it and the handle shattered off. It was shocking how fragile it was. So now I’ve got to go and find a generic replacement carafe.

I should haven listened to the reviews.

Amazon Customer: Back story--I have had a "Mr. Coffee" for many years and was always annoyed at the bitterness I was experiencing--I mean if if makes 100% pure Kona bitter, there's a problem. Well, it died the death on me earlier this week. I figured it was time to drop the hammer on a Technivorm. But what I was reading about the Technivorm wasn't all that encouraging, it has the time and temperature right, but people report a need to stir the grounds or they don't all get wetted. So I was going back and forth on whether to go with a Bonavita. Then I saw this one for 80 bucks and decided to take a chance. Right now I'm glad I did.

Now, the details. Same coffee, same grind, same ratio of water to coffee, same filter, no sign of bitterness--first sip, my reaction was "that's _good_ coffee". But the coffee seems weaker--I'm going to need to play with ratio of water to beans and with the grind.

Features: This is a very simple machine. There's a carafe (all glass, including the handle, no markings that I can see). There's a filter basket that comes completely out. And there's the base unit with the pump and heater. There's also a lid for the carafe. Haven't tried cleaning yet but there's...

Rod AM: Es una máquina extremadamente sencilla de operar, con sólo presionar un botón y sin complicarte obtienes una excelente taza de café.

Mi única queja es la placa que calienta la jarra de café, ya que si haces mas de 4 o 5 tazas y lo dejas sin atender, sin importar que la placa esté produciendo calor, el café se va a enfriar. Es importante tomar el café lo más pronto posible o tendrás café frío. Sin embargo la máquina es extremadamente veloz en prepararlo, por lo que no veo mucho punto en dejar la cafetera funcionando e irse muy lejos a hacer otras cosas.

Si eres de los que prefiere dejar el café hecho para después, puede que sea mejor la cafetera con la jarra insulada.

En casa preparo café espresso, con prensa francesa y con la máquina Bonavita. De las tres opciones, la máquina me parece la más veloz y sin tanta complicación. Si tienes prisa y deseas 1 o 2 tazas en 3 - 5 minutos puedes lograrlo. Y en cuanto a sabor, creo depende más de la calidad de café que compres, la molienda y el ratio agua/café que utilices para lograr una buena taza.

Estoy muy contento con mi compra, espero la máquina dure muchos años.

Simple Reviews: PROS:
- One button, no frills
- Brews hot consistently
- Pre soak grounds is a nice feature
- Good price point

CONS:
- Very plasticky. Scuffs show easily
- Metal heating plate at bottom is raised in the center so your glass carafe will wobble
- Make sure you push the coffee basket all the way to the end until it snaps into the groove. Instructions did not explicitly state this.

VERDICT: This is a product designed to do one thing and to do it well, and it shows. It's not the prettiest on the counter and it doesn't have any fancy features..However, it makes a delicious hot batch of coffee without fuss and for me that's More than enough!

Alan Monkhouse: Different from the common brands as is much more basic. There is no clock or program function. There is no valve to shut off flow if the carafe is removed early. There is still flow after the beep so wait a few minutes .The heating element shuts off after about 30 minutes. Coffee is brewed with the carafe lid off.
These are not criticisms rather features (or lack thereof). What this machine does is make eight four oz cups of very good coffee quickly and very hot (180degrees in the carafe.
This machine is for minimalists who know and love good coffee and is highly recommended.

JJ: I went down the rabbit hole of buying a new coffee maker, and the tons of options out there and the overwhelming amount of opinions in the reviews. I was looking for the best "bang for the buck", and the Bonavita Connoisseur 1900 series of machines seemed like the way to go. After all the research I kept seeing that the thermal carafe was the weak point of all of these units (and almost every machine with a thermal carafe) because they were hard to pour, empty, and hard to clean. Then I found the Metro.

The metro is touted to have the same internal parts and process as the connoisseur line, just with a hot plate and glass carafe. The glass carafe is very nice, pours easily and completely, and very easy to clean. The coffee does not burn on the plate, and is kept at an enjoyable temp for 45 minutes. I used a timer and accurate thermocouple based instant read thermometer to verify the brewing process falls within the guidelines of the SCAA for certification (it does, the very beginning of the brew process is a little low temp (several seconds) and the end the temp spikes for a few seconds (steam), but the brewing is between 195 and 205 the rest of the time.
