@OffGridMikeandTrish@OffGridMikeandTrish: Opted for this over a battery operated one. Works no problem on a 100’ 10/3 extension cord. Chain loosens a little but super easy to adjust. Read the manual. Easy to assemble. Definitely an Oregon product without the chain sharpener. Cheaper s62 chains to replace and easy to sharpen. Get the Oregon sharpening kit and use the smallest file at 30 degrees. Takes 15 minutes to do he whole chain. Live off grid and have a Gen that runs it.

ALDALD: Amazing value. I have been milling logs for furniture making for about 5 years using a gas chainsaw (Husqvarna 450 Rancher) and last year began experimenting with this Black & Decker 18" corded electric. It cuts as well as the gas saw with far less noise, fumes and maintenance. Using the Granberg Chainsaw mill and this saw I have milled 2 fairly large trees (Elm and White Oak) into slabs. It took some practice, patience and experimentation to figure out the best approach with the larger sections of the logs.
The tool-less chain tensioning system works fairly well, but has a tendency to loosen when dust/debris accumulates in the mechanism. A good cleaning remedies the issue.
All of the slabs (12"-24" wide) in the photos were milled with this saw.
I have burned out 2 saws, which is not unexpected given that it was not designed for this application. The value of a single slab exceeds the cost of a new saw and Amazon drops a new one off on my front porch in a couple of days.

Richard Bassett: Nothing bad to say at all. I have a gas chainsaw as well and could never keep it going. This electric one did more than the needed job. Had a 65’ tree cut down and then I went to clean it up. Trunk ended up about 45 inches across. Took some planning but this went through it. Push the trigger and it cuts. Would definitely buy another.

JM71: My first electric saw. I like using my Husky out in the bush to cut my logs into four foot lengths. Easier to haul those back to the homestead with the truck, and then buck them up into thirds in my yard for my wood-stove. With gas prices going through the roof, and since we get our power from a hydro dam in the region, I thought I'd try an electric saw for bucking close to home. I also bought a hundred foot cord from Amazon, which gets me to my woodshed, with many feet to spare. I was skeptical at first. How would it compare to my 52cc Husky with the same size 18 inch bar? I would say fairly even. The electric cuts with a bit slower rpm, but if you have all the time in the World, what does it matter? I work alone, so I like the fact the saw shuts off when you let go of the trigger and the chain automatically stops rotating with the power off. Much safer, and you are not wasting energy when you put down the saw to chuck a round onto the wood-pile. The chain brake works. The tension dial is super easy to use, and clean-up is a breeze as the sprocket area is fully sealed plastic. It uses standard chain oil, I prefer medium weight. The chain it comes with is cheap. I got my local...

daniel krotts: Worked fine so far cutting a tree down. The only problem i have is that the chain adjustment hits the tree when you're wedging it down into the tree and loosens the chain. Happens only when you wedge but man is it annoying.
