Jessica Henry: I'm a professional housecleaner and I have some very important requirements for vacuums.
Suction - this totally checks the box, the most powerful vacuum I've used.
Handles pet hair plus HEPA filter- tested it on my house first and we have 2 dog with different hair types and a cat, it did great! And I could hear it picking dirt particles way more than average.
Easy to handle- aside from some minor problems this was also a plus. Good maneuverability/pivot, the main vacuum detached from the base is very lightweight, all the buttons and latches work easy.

Some drawbacks then some pluses I wasn't expecting.
The canister is super small, less than 1/2 my old Hoover. And the max fill line is only about 2.5in above the base so it fills up FAST.
The wand is super short, so not great to get to places, and not good if you're tall like me.
The little fabric brush is too narrow and gets clogged all the time.
Cord is much shorter than I'd like.

Now for some happy surprises.
The headlight works amazing, and illuminates all the dust and hair both on carpet and hardwood.

Jack Otto: I tried to cancelled my order because it was not suitable for Australian power voltage it was 110 volt instead of 240 volts.I cancelled it more than two weeks before it arrived at my post Office and it was declined.
I emailed to Amazon about it and have not heard from them.I want a refund or a Vacuum cleaner what is suitable for Australian voltage.

Dave: *Update: Have been using 2 Bissell Surface Sense units everyday for 10 months now (bought 1st in Jan. '23) Going strong, zero problems!!

Weight: 16 lbs (note that since Amazon listed weight is incorrect)
Headlights: Very bright and close to floor to reveal dust and even single strands of hair on hard floors.
Cord Wrap: On unit body, not on handle so it is easy to remove handle.
Filter Cleaning: Easily accessible and easy to clean.
Filter Canister: Comes apart easily for quick washing. Plus, it's clear for fast visual of status.
Auto Brush Roll: Turns off when in full upright position.
Obstruction warning: If Brush Roll gets blocked, the Headlights will flash on/off to warn you - super nice!!
Extension Wand: Fast and easy to remove and use.
Accessories: All are firmly secured and easy to access on unit. Not in way of operation.
Suction Power: Very good.
Maneuverability: Very good - better than Dysons.
Compactness: Much better than Dyson Animal Ball 2 (DC41).
Likeability: From Hoovers to Dysons and Sharks, now to this Bissell. We like this Bissell best of all.

Nikky: Very powerful vacuum and very good on carpets and hard floors. But it is awkward, heavy and not user friendly. Would be good in a big area!
Easy to clean out but so heavy. I am sorry I got that. I was looking fir a lighter thing for quick sweeping!

Rhiannon Konop: I have been using an 8+ year old (not exactly sure when I got it, maybe 10 years ago) Kmart special. I tell you this to understand what I'm comparing this machine with. We have a golden retriever, two cats and several little dirt trodders in our house. Did I mention we live in the desert where you always have a thin film of dirt on your floors?

It took my husband using our vacuum to realize how badly we needed a new one. Some looking and price assessing led us to this one. Read many reviews right here on Amazon as well as Google searching and decided to give it a go. I am not disappointed!

The suction is wonderful! It pulled pet hair and even some cat claws right off of the living room rug (that had just been vacuumed the night before, twice).

I think the length of the cord is fine, but I've never had a vacuum that could go through my entire house on one plug.

It differentiates between my tile, carpet and rugs quickly! You can hear the change and there is even a suction adjuster right on the handle. *Pay attention to this adjuster as it may cause you to not have suction and think it's not working very well if you accidentally have it on the plush carpet...
