I used this to weatherproof some hemp rope for my porch swing, after reading how old sailors used pine tar and pitch to preserve rigging and seal up wooden boats. Doesn't remain sticky when absorbed into the rope, and the rope still smells hempy and a little piney. I didn't use much, though. I may go back and add more now that I have seen it doesn't mess up the nice qualities of my rope. It is also a lot runnier than I expected, nothing like roofing tar or pine sap. It's about the consistency of pancake syrup. I like the smell.

It is nice pine tar. About the consistency of molasses. Not too thick.
Would recommend to people who need pine tar.
Only thing I would have done differently would have been to check the local farm and garden store before buying. Even in my small town they had it for a lower price.
