Jason B.: This is going to be my "initial" review after about 20 uses already. I've used a few nice espresso machine frothers that steam both commercially and at home, electric hand frothers and steamers, and this is honestly my first hand frother. I freaking love it. It is so easy to use. I can literally feel the tension when the whip starts occurring. I've used 2%, whole milk, and half and half BOTH cold and hot. I can accidentally get carried away and over froth it making a giant froth monster, haha. Cleaning is ridiculously easy. The metal container itself is really nice. If something changes like tarnishing occurring way too early then I'll update my review, but I do tend to hand wash and dry my coffee stuff rather quickly just out of preference.

Laurich: I really like lattes. I'd been buying them almost every day at work, and was rapidly going broke. So I started looking up on how to make your own and in among the various fancy machines that can make a latte, I saw a highly rated review for the Bellmain Hand Frother. So I took a chance, and wow does this little device deliver. You put in some milk, pump it a number of times (I usually go for 60, which sounds like a lot but is really just a few seconds of pumping), and the milk froths up really nice. So now I'm making my own delicious London Fogs. This device is portable and needs no electricity. It is a bit noisy when you're pumping, so you don't want to use it in the middle of a crowded workspace. (Unless you make lattes for everybody, then it would probably be fine.) I just rinse it out when I'm done and it's ready to go again the next day. I've been using mine for almost 3 years now, pretty much daily, with no defects or damage to the device.

DH: Update:
You know I said I would be looking for something better... but I just haven't. Even with the gripes it just keeps doing its thing. I've also adjusted the way I make coffee in the mornings. I put grinds and coffee in this thing, give it a stir, then pour it into a hario pour over filter. Then if I want to froth some milk then this can do that too. I'm adding a star back. Its not as bad as I thought.

I use it directly on my gas stove on low heat. As long as the flames don't go up the side the milk doesn't burn and the handle stays cool to the touch.

Unfortunately the plunger doesn't froth as nice as my cheapo ikea french press. It also makes a racket if the plunger hits the lid when pressing down. I put a small rubber band around the top of the stem and it was enough to remove the noise.

While frothing you have to hold the lid down, but it gets hot to the touch. Plastic would actually be better here. If you use a rag to hold in place milk will come out the rim of the lid and dirty the towel.

It works and the foam isn't bad but I'll be shopping to find something better.

NYC: the best manual frother is the Bodum glass one, but It doesn't matter how careful you are, every two years (or sooner), the carafe will break. It is thin glass and me (and all of my friends) have bought dozens over the years...ridiciulous. And the replacement carafes are more than a new set (OY). So I officially broke up with Bodum, and went on the hunt for a stainless steel Frother that could compare in quality froth. So to Amazon and read maybe 50 reviews and seemed the Bellemain Stainless Steel Hand Pump Milk Frother was the most purchased. So...how does it work? Not as well or as easily as the Bodum. The Bodum is perfect as you can heat the milk in the glass carafe and then froth it. So with the Bellemain, I just grabbed a creamer and put in 2/3 cup of Macedemia/Almond/Cashew Milk (Trader Joes) and microwave (I like my milk HOT). Non-dairy milks froth perfectly (incidentally...anyone who thinks you need fat in dairy milk is wrong...you just need the right steamer or manual frother...use whatever milk you want). So as previous reviewers said, when you pour the hot milk in the Bellman Frother, the entire contraception gets hot. So I just grabbed a paper towel and started...

Jan Jesser: I just received and although seems to froth well and holds good amount of milk, I can't imagine why they didn't build in a pouring spout. You have to pull out the top and screen in order to pour foam into your coffee. This is award and can be messy. Very simple solution for manufacturer, pinch the lip and make a pouring spout. Later will look for another one which does this. Also in spite of name Bellema it is made in Taiwan.
Add on 4 years later in spite of above I have had this for nearly four years and is still working flawlessly. Well built and still does the job well. buy this

Four Wind Sail: This product works perfectly for my needs. I pair it in my morning ritual with a Bialetti Moka Express (3 cup version) to make the perfect cup of cappuccino or latte.
This size is ideal for 1-3 cups of latte, but it froths so easily, you can buy this and easily make 4 cups in two separate rounds of frothing.
I fill it about 1/4th of the way with whole milk and I have a nice froth in 10 pumps of the handle. I prefer less froth (more latte style than cappuccino style) so if you did 20-30 times, which would take you all of about 10 seconds, you'd have very frothy milk. A see a lot of reviews saying they couldn't get it to froth, but seems those reviewers were using something besides whole milk, so I can't vouch for anything other than what latte is supposed to have in it, whole cow's milk :)
Cleans up easily as well.

Note to those asking about heating your milk in this container on the stove --- It is not ideally suited to do that because the stainless steel is too thin to handle very much heat without scorching the milk at the bottom... HOWEVER.... I have a workaround if you want to heat and froth in the same container. While my Moka Express is heating on the stove...
