I have been using this with my grandson. He is almost 3 weeks old. He has symptoms of gas pains, usually in the late evening and into the wee hours of the morning. I would literally walk around the bedroom in the middle of the night with him for 2-3 hours, until his next feeding. I was exhausted and so was my daughter. I decided to try this little Lion gripe belt and I’m so glad I did. My grandson was in a full on CRY session, when I first used it. He INSTANTLY stopped crying and just stared at me calmly. For a second there, I thought wait, is this too hot? No, it wasn’t, it was perfect. He just felt better INSTANTLY. WOAH!!! I could have used this MAGIC belly belt when my daughter was colic years ago. It was 3 months of terror, LOL.

ElleNWCElleNWC: This little lion (or elephant) is a sweet way to give a colicky little one soothing warmth where it helps the most. A separate lavender-scented double pouch of clay beads pops in the microwave for warming, then tucks into an envelope-opening pocket at the back of the lion's head. The belt then wraps around baby's belly with a velcro closure to keep it snugly in place and generating warm comfort where baby needs it. (In one place the description says the pouch contains wheat grains; in another it says clay beads. Mine definitely feels like clay beads.)

This is such a nice natural remedy and so adorably done that I would love to see it made in fully organic materials. As it is, the plush face is soft and cuddly but the "mane" is a somewhat stiff, lower-quality felt. The velcro closure also seems like the kind that might lose its hold with extended use, although it holds well for the time being.

Overall, a cute and handy little helper for new parents desperately trying to calm a colicky baby, and a unique baby shower gift any new parent would be grateful to have. Be sure to follow instructions for safe heating and use.
