S. Douglas: My dermatologist had prescribed Zinc Oxide in April 2023 for me to use with a prescription antibiotic on a biopsy wound that would not heal on my lower calf. A local hospital performed the skin biopsy on my lower leg in February but by April it still had not healed. My dermatologist said the stronger prescription zinc oxide that was not covered by my insurance and cost hundreds of dollars could be substituted with a popular diaper cream. All the diaper creams he suggested contained lanolin and I am highly allergic to lanolin and wool.
