suze0021suze0021: This enchanting series, that explains the Buddhist philosophy so uniquely and simply through the eyes of HHC (the Dalai Lama's cat), has given me so many quotes to highlight and live by, book five being no exception - but if you are scrolling through comments thinking about reading this series, do start at book one to enjoy a rather wonderful relationship with all the characters as you progress through the five books.
And then read them all again.
And again.....

J. Roberts: Our minds are powerful. When the body ages and we start to confront our own death it becomes essential that we learn to train our minds to serve us well.
David Michie is a master at distilling the essence of Buddhist teachings in an enjoyable, easy to read, heart-warming story. He gently takes the reader along and introduces important concepts while not leaving behind a beginner or non-Buddhist.
There are many gems in this book waiting to be discovered! Give yourself the gift of being open to receive them.

Jodie: This is yet another example of a writer creating clear pictures in a readers mind. I felt like I was apart of the story. Enjoyable from the moment the cover was opened. There are messages and situations that can and will resonate will all people no matter the culture or beliefs. Pure entertainment with wisdom and knowledge to be shared. There are parts I literally laughed out loud. Go and buy a copy now.

Barbara F.: I loved this book, just as much as the previous four.
We meet up with all our favorite characters, and a few new ones as well.
Our beloved HHC is now approaching her senior years, and we see how she comes to accept and realize that each new day is a gift, and an opportunity.
Our sweet cat continues to educate us ever so gently in the concepts of Tibetan Buddhism, in a very understandable manner. And, as always I felt the warmth, love and acceptance of the Dali lama, as it is conveyed through his beautiful snow lion.
These readings inspire me to be a more compassionate and kinder being.
Once again I did not want to read the final chapter for I didn’t want the book to end.
Loved the book David! Looking forward to number 6, but let’s not let our sweet kitty age too quickly.

Brooke Collins: Pure joy! And Awaken the Kitten Within is just that. In the 5th instalment of everyone’s favourite cat, the beloved HHC, there is so much joy that I found myself with a smile on my face every time I picked up the book. As someone who is eager to learn more about Tibetan Buddhism, the book is full of life lessons such as how we think of ourselves versus what others think and it sheds new light on our perceptions and reality. I found the descriptions of some beautiful music excellent.
- [ ] I highly recommend this instalment of the Dalai Lama’s Cat and more than that, the whole series. I can honestly say it filled my heart with joy!

ZM: I have not been able to read this new one yet, but I have read every one of David Michie's books! His writing is engaging and draws you in completely. With what I call the Dalai Lama series, which starts with the Dalai Lama's cat, David gives a very inciteful, fun and lightly spiritual view from the perspective of the Dalai Lama's cat. I have given that first book away so many times as a present or just because and every single person who reads it has gone out and purchased all of David Michie's books. He is an amazing writer - be sure to give this book a chance if you are thinking of it - you won't be sorry.

K. Martens: I so love David Michie's Dalai Lama's Cat books, for both the delightful characters and the insightful teachings. The latest in what I hope will be a continuing series particularly resonates with me. HHC (His Holiness's Cat) is beginning to confront the aging process! With good humor, if not always with grace we follow her awakening to the important learnings of this stage of live.
My thanks to the author for his ability to make his teachings joyful.

Angela Mortimer: If you already know HHC, you will have long awaited this latest in the series. For those new to the Dalai Lama's cat, these books are a joy to read. They impart wisdom in a playful way, that makes it easy to digest, but is no less profound for that. Once you have started this book, you won't be able to put it down and it will join the extended library of feline, Buddhist wisdom. The best yet.

Becca: Thoughtful and thought-provoking, with the most entertaining flashes of humor. A maturing Snow Lion explores several challenging Tibetan Buddhist ideas, using familiar likeable characters and intriguing, helpful newcomers. Such an inspiring book! Michie just keeps getting better and better (and he was already great!) Highly recommend!
