Jordan2928: I never write reviews, but WOW. If you love and appreciate the series, like I do, you'll love the feels this book brings out. It goes in chronological order of Iroh's life. His relationship with Ozai and his own father, his actions as a father, and then discusses the relationship he and Zuko had later in their lives (like Legend of Korra era events). No mention of Zuko getting married or his kids (I WANT AN ADULT ZUKO NOVEL - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE AVATAR CREATORS GIVE YOUR ADULT OG FANS THIS GIFT). There's this touching letter Zuko, at an old age, writes Iroh at the end that made me cry like it was "APPA's LOST DAYS" episode. I just really wanted more info about Zuko's personal life. His relationship with his kids, given his not-so-good relationship with his father. That's my only complaint. Otherwise, worth the money if your a big fan :)

Ethan Berry: I love the idea of Iroh leaving Zuko a journal before leaving on his Spirit World journey, and I absolutely love the idea of Nickelodeon deciding to bless us with it so many years after the shows have ended. However, the execution was a little on the weak side.

My biggest issue is that the inserts are held in with those cheap sticky circle things. Stuff falls out easily and they leave circular stains on the pages that resemble grease stains. It's ugly. Also, the book isn't edited all too well. I didn't notice any spelling or punctuation errors, but back to back sentences felt pretty similar. Normally that isn't a big deal, but it's pretty noticeable when you can read the whole thing in a sitting. Additionally, some of the words in here just don't feel like something Iroh would say. The book makes frequent use of "the fates" and even one "I pray that," neither of which felt very Avatar. The journal doesn't really feel like an immersive journal, either, with very modern depictions of what went down in actual scenes. There are really cool pages that look like they come from in-universe, which is awesome, but that's unfortunately not the majority of them. Maybe I'm just picky...
