Theodore Ricciardi: Incredibly artistic, I love the style of these books, story is a tiny bit forced but makes perfect sense in the end

Carl Hellman: This rifty tale gives you more insight into the avatar and his friends, especially Toph and her relationship with her father. It’s a story full of action, comedy, and wonder that you do not want to miss!

Amazon Customer: I really liked this book because it focusses on the Fire Nation and Zuko and Mai. The only disappointing thing for me was there are no definite answers to the questions that arose in earlier books like what happens to Zuko and Mai or Azula. They sort of hint at stuff without really showing what actually happens. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, it feels like a solid Avatar story.

This is great! You'll get to see some fun side characters!
Spoilers~
Avatar Yangchen's tale was so great and fun to read! I love all the Toph stuff. Her tiff with Aang makes sense to me, and it is very painful to see her father disowning her for who she is. I enjoyed seeing the rough rhinos (didn't realize I missed them on screen), and Sokka and Katara's interactions with the Rough Rhino's and each other were hilarious! I like the new characters' designs a lot as well.

Swank Ivy:
A wonderful middle volume to this story about the world adjusting to its new status quo!
What's happened: Since the last time we saw our heroes, they've been trying to convince a refinery that they're causing pollution and need to stop. Aang is finding his feet as an Avatar who still misses a way of life that's gone, so he's throwing himself into instructing the Air Acolytes, while Toph is charging forward into a new scene that changes the rules and embraces metalbending as the way of the future. Aang wants balance and peace, but sometimes that comes at a cost.
Confronting Toph's father at the refinery feels like a mistake. He spurns her, pretends not to recognize her, and turns away. She and Aang don't want to leave the refinery until they accomplish their mission, but now they're being confronted by the Rough Rhinos--the muscle that will handle them if they don't comply. The refinery's management just wants to start production up again after the earthquake that just hit and now these kids are making it hard. Sokka, Katara, Aang, and Toph, with the Air Acolytes, must face these guys.
Aang finds himself instructing Toph not to be so rough...

Mr. Roy Williams:
I,like most other people I know, wasn't happy at the end of the Legend of Korra series and wanted More !
What did I want,and when ?
Yes,more and soon !
Well,to tide us Avatar TLAB junkies over, there are four book series to get our teeth into.
I started with Smoke and Shadow and am now trying The Rift.
There's also The Search and The Promise still to go (thank goodness)
The artwork is simply amazing of course and the colours very bright and engaging.
The writers have included loads of laugh-out-loud quips, comments and comebacks.
The characters have destinctive personalities that make for some great storytelling.
We all know that Aang, the Avatar could probably deal with all the challenges by himself
but it's nice to suspend our disbelief and embrace the well told storys that need Team
Avatar to accomplish.I love these books and read and re-read them with absolute pleasure.
There is sometimes more than one thing going on in the panels and I have to re-read them
in order not to miss some brilliant joke, action or message. The creators go to a lot of trouble
to include these 'extras' and I don't want to miss even one of...

Rosanna D'agnillo: Well, I'm completely biased because I am a total Avatar devotee, so anything this wonderful gifted team publishes will be preordered by yours truly months ahead of publication and received with major excitement! So glad to be immersed in Aang's world again, no matter what the story line. This one is pretty interesting, too as the focus is on Toph (the Search was about Zuko's mom; the Rift delves into Toph's history). Beautiful artwork. Frankly, I'm totally grateful this team continues to publish Avatar books. Don't get me wrong; I love Korra; it took me a while to get into the "modernized" culture and more fallible personalities of Korra & her team--there is no hero with an incredible arc like Zuko, no master worthy of devotion like Iroh etc--but we (kids & I) really enjoy it now. Anyway, very glad Gene & team continue to allow my family the pleasure of being a part of Aang and his world; I've pre-ordered part 3 and recommend y'all do the same. http://www.amazon.ca/Avatar-Last-Airbender-Rift-Part/dp/1616552972/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407412674&sr=8-1&keywords=the+rift+part+3
