joe breskin: It came with one dead, corroding battery but that had not damaged the contacts. I replaced them with cells from the LED flashlight in my bag, which was not really all that bright anymore, and it would time out - go blankscreen after a few seconds. Found some better batteries and measured the ones I had tried, and they were at 0.87 volts. With decent batteries it seems to be reliable, giving the same voltage and current readings as my FLUKE 377 that cost almost 10X as much. The 20 amp current scale overloads on a 17.9 amp load, so you switch to the 200 amp scale and it reads correctly. I got it so my farmer friends can troubleshoot their electrical stuff - mostly fans and pumps and timers and circuit breakers and heating elements and thermostats - all stuff that was not designed to operate in an environment as damp as a greenhouse - and I have high hopes that it will turn out to be just what they needed. Basically test 1 is "is there voltage on both sides of the 240 line?" and test 2 is "if yes, is it drawing about the right current?"
I am not a fan of the tiny screw that holds the battery door in place, but I like the wasy the battery tray snaps into place. I assume the screw...

BreezyKenBreezyKen: I purchased the AstroAI Digital clamp meter model 202 from Amazon at a very reasonable price. It arrived promptly and was well protected in a padded envelope in its soft case inside a corrugated box. I have been using it now for several weeks and am pleased with the ease of use with the auto ranging function, large display and easy to select functions. The AC voltage and resistance functions are very accurate compared with an expanded scale voltmeter (see photo) and a standard resistor. I was unable to accurately test the AC current function, but it did vary by 8-9% from another clamp meter I have. The soft case is adequate but does not provide much protection for the meter. During use one of the probe tips pulled out of the probe, but was easily reinserted. The probes have a standard plug at the meter end and could be easily replaced. This is an excellent meter for casual use. I wish it had a DC current clamp function as well as the AC function.

I see from many of the questions asked that there is not a clear understanding what this meter does, I bought this a couple of months ago and use it often - it is a great product especially for the price which is incredible for how well it works, accuracy and features / functionality.

To clear up many questions (any many INCORRECT ANSWERS!!) The meter performs the following measurements:

Voltage measured using supplied Red & Black Test leads -
A/C volts from 0 to 750 VAC - Range settings for AC volts - 600mV, 6V, 60V, 600V, 750V
D/C Volts - (YES it measures DC volts like for Batteries) - 0 to 1000 VDC - Range settings for DC Volts - 600mV, 6V, 60V, 600V, 1000V
Current - Measured in Amperes - using the integrated Clamp - Measures A/C Current (AMPs) ONLY does not measure DC Current
First - to measure A/C current you must separate the Neutral and Hot (typically Neutral is the White and Hot is Black) then open the clamp, place around either the Hot or Neutral wire, won't work if you place clamp around both wires together (like around a lamp cord wire), you have...
