My family needed to fit our dog into the back of our small SUV and the only option was packing stuff on our hood. We ended up packing a rolling suitcase, two duffel bags, and an Uppababy Vista stroller with the two detachable seats. These things aren't exactly small.

The instructions tells you to use four bars but we only had two and did fine. Since we have a large retractable sunroof, we bought a separate nonstick mat. Tightening the straps takes some getting used to but overall I'm impressed with how this thing held up.

We drove round trip from NJ to Boston. We hit torrential downpours on the last hour on the ride home but everything ended up bone dry. This thing was inexpensive so I figured it'd be a one and done type thing but I'll definitely be reusing this.

Clifton S.: I particularly like that the 2 zippers open the bag on three sides, for flexible loading. The front is completely closed , so less chance of rain being forced in that way. I do install it on an OEM Subaru roof rack.

The jury is out on the durability. The material and zippers are substantial and if the outer membrane is UV resistant plastic it should hold up. Time will tell. The ones I have used in the past failed due to solar breakdown. The coating on them began to peel after a couple of uses, one a year, despite having dried the bag thoroughly and storing it indoors in it's bag.

gsakisgsakis: I drive a large KIA sorento and have three kids. The boot fills up quickly even for short breaks.
I bought this and I have now used it for four long journeys +3000km each. All of them had rain, but the last one was with buckets! I was driving somewhere in Serbia in rain +hale to the point we had to pull over to the side and wait in the car for the rain to ease! Later that night I
was watching the pool of water forming on top of the bag all night! I was sure the water had found its way in. After 4 days of driving in rain I opened the bag. Bone dry everything! The bag hadn't moved an inch! The straps still strong! Honestly what else do you want from your roof box?
I tend to put lighter boxes less than 7kg each at the front to fill it up and raise the edges. It holds a lot, you will be amazed how much! The only limitation is how much weight your roof can hold. It should be evenly distributed to keep the box at shape. One thing to remember is that all items in the box will slightly move backwards, so its important the items at the back wont break.

carla: Very easy to install on the roof. The cables to tie it down were really long and a bit fiddly to tighten but it didn't slip at all even in the wind and rain. We fitted a large suitcase, 3x camping chairs and a small holdall in the bag and still had room for more! Really great buy for the price.

Anon: This bag does the job perfectly and for an amazing price. The material feels thick and high quality and the zips don't come apart if you overfill the bag slightly. The straps are actually much better than I was expecting too, although I still throw a couple of ratchet straps over for peace of mind. Folds down in to a small bag for easy storage. 10/10

WanosWanos: I used this on a 500 mile total camping trip. It never had any holes or anything like that like what some people mentioned. However, I tried to park in the shade if I could, as in direct sunlight, this black color heats it up so it's hot to the touch, and can even burn your skin.

Unfortunately I didn't take pictures when the load was full. This was after I unloaded most things at the campsite. I didn't have side rails so I tied the front side straps to the front bars, and the back side straps to the back bars. Full load, everything looks fine, and the straps were secure. The only thing was I had to tie the straps up to themselves to make them "as short as possible" to prevent the wind from flapping them against the car roof, which made it sound like huge axx raindrops or hail.

Once I got the thing on the car roof (mid sized SUV), since I'm only 5 feet tall, I found it hard to fill it up. I decided to switch things around and managed to fill it with the following:
