D/J: 10/2023 Update: It is still going strong with heavy use. The bottom fabric covering the "poles" is wearing out-- which is to be expected. It is still difficult to fold up and we have found that using a synch strap to hold it together helps. We will probably buy this one again next year. It is the best privy tent for camping in the snow. It is big enough to run a Mr. Heater buddy and change clothes. I am glad I added extra straps across the walls on the inside for hanging clothes when changing.
We bought this Oct 2019. We camp year-round at least 6x per year. We've tried all different privy tents. We use it for with a toilet and use a Mr. Heater Buddy inside. Perfect for the cold camp mornings! The Alvantor has great features: thick fabric, screen top, clear rain fly, wide at top and white outside. It is easy to change inside and sturdy enough to hang some clothes while changing.
Cons: The worst part is it is extremely difficult to fold up. I've folded up other similar tents without much trouble. They make it look so easy with the clips-- but it is not. Also, when setting up, the bottom wants to fold in under it's self and fall over. To stop this from happening, we...

CHemenway: Got this for a friend in a wheelchair for doing all things private, including delivering IV meds and changing clothes and having a bath. She travels and cannot go to public places of any kind, so needed a way to get privacy while on the road. She has used this inside the house for a bath in the kitchen, on the deck to work in the shade, and on trips to use the loo and change clothes. This absolutely does the job, with two exceptions.
I wanted a pop-up without a bunch of poles (this is), that had light (this has a “skylight”), that can be secured (this has stakes, that do need to be used if possible), that had air (this does), that has a pocket for “stuff” (this does), that had a separate tarp for the bottom (this does) and did NOT have a built-in bottom (this does not) which does nothing but collect dirt that has to be shaken out, and that can be kept warm with a heater (this can), but not too hot in the sun (the white exterior reflects light). I wanted a way for her to keep stuff and coolers etc. out of the sun and rain as well. This does it all.
The exceptions:
1. The rim at the bottom prevents a wheelchair from rolling in, BUT you can press it down...

John B.: This shelter is very tall. Lots of headroom and I'm 6'2". Also very wide, lots of elbow room or would be adequate for an adult with a small child. It's lightweight. Add those up and it's a big sail in the wind. Plus, it tries to fold itself up if you let it. Three ways to anchor: 1. Stakes at the bottom 4 corners for both the separate floor tarp and shelter at the same time, 2. Four bags they provide for sand, rocks or weights at each corner, 3. Guy line strings from mid-height of shelter to staked out pegs. Eight pegs provided so in case of a windstorm, can do shelter corners and guy lines. Stakes are marginal, but better than coat hanger as a review said. Likely will bend if you hit a rock while hammering in.
Top is open mesh. Rain cover marginally covers mesh. It's clear thick plastic like the pouches blankets sometime come in. It attaches easily to shelter using plastic hooks connected to cover with elastic which are hooked to loops in the four top corners of shelter.
You will never figure out how to fold this from the written instructions and pictures. Watch the video, which you need to pause every two seconds to see what is being done because they did it in high speed....

Officially Crowned: This portable is perfect for what we needed it for. We were searching for a popup with privacy and ventilation, this one provides both. It's not the easiest to fold, but the interior is spacious. In comparison to other options on the market, I really wish this was available at a more affordable price point, but I think it provides value for our needs.
