Veteran Hockey Blue LinerVeteran Hockey Blue Liner: Love this for cooking in the fire pit. The only trouble is if the ground is really soft, like our sandy soil, you need to first put a long pipe in the ground to hold/mount this. Once you do that it’s not possible to adjust the height. Solution … adjust the fire under it. Works well also, but misses a nice functionality in this product. I wish our ground was firm enough to hold this without the pipe.
Also, when driving a long pipe in the ground it can be really difficult to keep it truly straight. So the cooking surface swings & settles to where gravity takes it. We used a coat hanger to hold it in place. Another day we’ll try to re-plant the holding pipe to a perfectly straight position.
Regardless, cooking on this was a pleasure. Large cooking area. Great for a few burgers, dogs, and buns. Highly recommend this!

John S.: This is the perfect grill to cook over an open fire. Very large - sturdy - adjustable - swings out and away from the fire while you flip the food ( which is good cause it is hot)
We had 14 people over - built a nice fire pit on the ground in a ring in our backyard and grilled 3 dozen oysters on the half shell with garlic butter and cheese at a time and ate them on some small french bread slices.
After the oysters, we cooked 16 nice size steak filets all at the same time and still had room for more.
We used the - Aoocan Marshmallow Roasting Sticks Set of 12 Extend 45" Smores Sticks for Fire Pit Safe Stainless Telescoping Forks Hot Dog, Campfire, Camping - Multicolor - the big and little kids loved them and used them to do marshmallows and the beer drinkers Really Enjoyed putting some steak strips or shrimp on the sticks and grilling them right over an open fire. It is not just a grill you can put a nice pot of beans or gumbo and swing it away from the fire a bit and just let it slow cook all day. or grill or fry fish or whatever on the grill swing it away from the fire a bit and just let it slow cook all day. The main thing is it adjusts to any height and swings...

B: As another reviewer commented, I really wish that it had a little bit of a longer steak that it rested upon. however, I found that by angling the steak a little bit, it was able to help resist the weight of a heavier pot like my 5-quart cast iron. With a longer steak, it would be much more stable, however I understand that having the link that it does, it makes it a lot more portable. That said, I really enjoyed using this when I went camping a little bit ago, and I didn't have any issues with things sticking to the grill when I cooked directly on it. I use a little bit of general cooking anti static spray, Pam, and didn't have any issues. Would definitely recommend for anyone camping needing to cook anything over a fire, or any form of heat for an extended. Of time and that they didn't want to use a propane grill or other similar device.

savyshop: Awesome product. We didn't have any issues with the length of the bar (we used it for car camping at a Washington State Park). We were cooking directly on the grill and not putting anything heavy on it and found it plenty sturdy with just a few inches pounded in. As other reviewers suggested, we mounted it 'upside down' to allow for a lip around the sides so nothing could roll off. It was easy to get the tension high enough to hold it in place but loose enough that we could swing the grill in and out of the fire easily. Best invention ever....my husband is busy planning to buy these for several of our camping friends and a family member with a backyard fire pit. Would hold up to 8 burgers comfortably....we grilled two good size steaks plus 3 bell peppers plus toasted bread for both of us with room to spare. Larger families might not be able to fit side dishes on the grill along with their mains. I rubbed it with a little olive oil (on a paper towel) and then just swung it over the fire to heat up and dropped our meat directly on...no problems with sticking. A $2 BBQ brush made clean up a breeze. Leave it in the fire for a few minutes after removing your dinner then swing it out...

jimbo: Had to use a longer pole to insert in ground otherwise it would not stay up. Pipe that came with it is way too short. I used a piece of 5/8 inch. rebar 4ft. long and that held it up nicely to support the grill. I did have to grind one side of the rebar to get a good fit. Jim W. Waukesha, WI
