Happily BacheloredHappily Bachelored: Veronica is an 11-year-old, 8-lb chihuahua; I adopted her 6 months ago & quickly learned why she was surrendered: she bites. This is the only way to trim her nails & perform other grooming. The muzzle is very well made with sturdy wire, leather & fleece padding with rivets to reinforce the stitching, I made her wear it like a necklace for 24-hours so she got used to it. Even though I ordered the 2XS I still had to punch extra holes (with a nail & hammer on a block of wood) to get it tight enough. After several failed attempts at pulling the muzzle over her snout (snarling & nipping at me) I got the idea to put a piece of chicken in the wire mesh at the tip & when she put her nose in to get it I buckled her up! After I trimmed her nails & used the flea comb & set her on the floor to see how long it would take her to get out of it. 2 minutes was all it took before she was able to paw it off. I can make it tighter but I might also have to bend the wire to get it to fit her tiny face better. UPDATE: The strap over the middle is crucially important, not only to getting it on her but also you can loop it through her actual collar to hold it on better....

Cathryn Stokes: The dog I got this for I adopted from a shelter. He's so protective I'm afraid he'll bite someone. This mussel works pretty well and he can still drink water. I'd like to see a better fit . Something that was a mesh with cloth like a head dress. Opening for the ears and eyes, but with a rubber covered cage for his mouth and lower by his eyes , cuz muzzle hasn't much room and presses one the lower part of his eyes majoring it unpleasant for him to wear. I'd also like it if it were a better fit and able to be adjusted in more ways. my dog can find a way out of most of it and he comes trotting up to me with it hanging around his neck. Maybe it should be made of a nylon stretch fabric . It's better than no mussel and it keeps my Jack Russell from being a libality.

Beverly: As much as I hated getting a muzzle for a small dog I was having issues with one of my dogs attacking my blind dog out of the blue. They will sleep next to each other, eat near each other and get along fine until out of the blue my 17# mix will attack my 9# bllind pom. It is always when they are on my lap on my recliner and I end up being the one getting injured. Before sitting in my recliner I put the muzzle on and no more problems. The Small (puppy size Jack Russel) fits my 17# mix great.

GT67: The wire basket is well made and strong keeping in mind the dog comfort, I bought it with the intention to keep my dog from sniffing or keeping his tongue from all the excrement left behind from unclean dog owners, but I could not stop seeing my dog suffering having this muzzle around his mouth trying to eliminate his nature of feeling the world around him. If the dog does not bite like mine do not buy it or use it.
