Comments

Becky Clark: We need books like this that are honest and true. Combining scriptural truths with the latest in neuroscience, the author shares her story of shame and perfectionism. Well written. I buy copies of this book for my friends and family.

Lisa Charlebois: This book is filled with so much evidenced based knowledge that is healing for the relentlessly self-driven. It will be a blessing to anyone who reads it.

Sarah McCoy: Wow! I could read this over & over!

Mariah: Easy read. The author is Christian and references scripture at times. So if that's not your cup of tea you may not be interested. I consider myself more spiritual but the scripture doesn't bother me.

Amazon Kunde: Unfortunately this book seems kind of typical. Talking about random people and how they solved their issues. God is referenced quite often which I was able to ignore until it got more detailed including quotes from the Christian bible. I just couldn’t really keep going, so I don’t know what the entire book is like. It’s probably just not the right type of book for me.

Rebecca K. Tan: thankful for this book and the gentle truths found in it. I was in an abusive relationship a few years ago and found that my unresolved chlidhood trauma along with newer trauma brought me to a really difficult place emotionally. reading this book has helped me be more aware of my body when it's being triggered and work on putting up better boundaries.

Kindle Customer: Knowledgeably and compassionate, the author gives much theoretical and practical advice to be kind to ourselves when facing challenges and for addressing past pain.
Really useful read.

Andrea Humphries: In Try Softer, Aundi Kolber comes alongside her reader, like a kind and gentle friend, saying, "Hey, this white-knuckling through life thing that we've all been doing? It isn't working. I know, because I've been doing it, too." Then she proceeds to not only explain why it's not working - we're fighting against our physiology - but also how to recognize when we're white-knuckling without realizing it. Finally, she shows us a better way - a way to work with our minds, hearts, and bodies as they've been created, a way to move towards greater health and wholeness. And she does all of this while acknowledging that it's hard, non-linear, and (sometimes) painful work. This is an insightful, helpful, and above all hugely practical book. I'm so thankful for it and for Aundi.

Serenity...: This book is written powerfully and includes an invitation to thrive. The author has included some of her sessions with clients that illustrate practical methods to connect with their hearts, heads and bodies. Most interesting to read these stories as part of the total process.

She is a survivor of trauma and this aspect definitely aided her in 'healing others'... This book is written in two parts with the first one being 'Process of Becoming' and then Part 2 which is 'Practices to try the Softer Approach'. The reader will also be able to grasp the process more easily with illustrations throughout.

I learned more about my brain than I had ever known and the manner in which different parts interact with each other. One example is the 'limbic system' which I found most interesting.

A few key points for me included: 'what happened in you life matters, the concept of white-knuckling', setting boundaries, grounding, and top=down comfort'. The Benediction at the end was also powerful. The invitation to thrive also included 'be still' with the Hebrew word 'raphah' mentioned.

The most important point for me to read was the portion 'Big T or little t'....The...

Marije: This book feels like a healing balm. I've had severe chronic pain for 20+ years now and I'm realizing how tough I've become in order to deal with it all. There has been no space for softness, compassion, or tenderness. This is the book I've always wanted and needed to read, but wasn't available. It is now. I feel seen and heard and my soul is breathing a sigh of relief. I'm looking forward to implementing all the "try softer" things I've learned into my life. Thank you, Aundi, for writing this book.
