Michel Fournier: Installation très rapide

Canada on Dec 06, 2023

CaseyCasey: I was a little nervous using my tent for the first time because they called for a lot of drenching rain for the duration of my camping trip.. certainly not ideal, but what can you doing? I already purchased my tickets for the festival so I was committed.
Setup was easy but had a bit of a learning curve and took me about 20 minutes by myself, including installing the rain fly. Next time, I suspect it'll take me about 5 minutes. I staked the tent down in every place possible and used all the guy lines. I was as prepared for the pending storm as I could be and hoped for the best.
The rain came and boy did it pour! Our campsite flooded within an hour...but you know what didn't flood? My tent! When I woke in the morning I had a small puddle near each of the air flow vents near the floor. Not a lot, but more than a little. But I was able to easily soak it up with a wash cloth.
My new tent passed the most important test of all. It survived a soaking storm!
Besides that wonderful news, the tent is also very spacious, clearly great quality, has plenty of windows and can convert into 2 rooms if you want it too. There are two entrances. One on a side wall and one in the front of...

JB: My wife and I purchased this tent 3 years ago and we've camped in it many, many times.

First setup I remember took maybe 5 minutes to figure out while fumbling around, since then, it's up in a minute or two. Usually while I'm unpacking the truck, my wife already has it up before I'm done unpacking.

It handles high winds well as long as the lines are tied down well. We've been in heavy west coast rain a few times and the seams held up and are still like new.

The mesh window material isn't very durable, we now have a hole on one of the screen on the main entrance, however we never have the windows down on the main entrance anyways.

The zippers are ok. They're no YKK but they're smooth and, (mostly) snag free. You do have to sort of stick your thumb out to separate the zipper flap from the zipper as your unzipping, but it's usually pretty trouble free.

PLENTY of room inside. We have a queen sized air mattress which fits perfectly with walking room on both sides, so it's easy to get in and out of bed without having to crawl over each other.

We also bring in a little table and then we use the front corners for storing gear. Still a ton of room...

Art.Art.: Pros:

Humperdinck HackensackHumperdinck Hackensack: After much waffling on different models, selected this tent for a cross country road trip where my family of 4 would camp most nights, one night per location. That's alot of setting up and tearing down, and my two kids are too young to be of much real help. As such, the "instant" style tent seemed the best fit for my needs. Had been leaning towards the Coleman Instant Cabin 8, but ultimately selected this one for the weight, this one is about 10lbs lighter at a little over 30 lbs, compared to the Coleman at just over 40 lbs. I had also been attracted to the Gazelle 8-person, it's one of those that literally pops up; but it was expensive, and I had concerns about how well it would hold up to high winds, and reading the reviews it didn't actually seem to go up any quicker than this one. Finally, I searched around all the premium backpacking brands looking for something ultralight. I used to backpack extensively and am no stranger for paying a premium to shave off weight, especially for large heavy gear like tents. Brands like Big Agnes, MSR, etc. However I find that in the 8-person capacity range, the weight of those tents was still in the same ballpark as these car camping...

Jay Lah: super easy to pitch, and take down, get in and out of bag... make sure you dry it before storing it... got this size so that I could sleep with my 12 ft 6 in standup paddle board on multi day/night excursions, love that I can walk around without ducking my head... just stayed at a paddle festival with it... I slept alone in it with a twin mattress, plenty of room for all my gear... can do sun salutations (am 5 ft 6), and there is room for a carpet, two festival chairs, so can serve as a gazebo during the day to get out of the sun, or in the evening for a bit of warmth and to get away from the bugs... you could have more people in it... I am accustomed to backwoods camping, this is my first experience with glamping... and to be honest, it is easier to pitch this tent then my one man or two man tent... and throw in a twin mattress with electric pump... and this setup is easier to put together and take down than my backpacking gear... if I could redesign it, though... I would make it so that instead of being a super long and skinny package, I would shorten the poles, so that it could fit in a bag half the length and twice the width... the dimensions of the bag are awkward

Thomas L. Zimmerman: For $200 delivered, I am extremely impressed with this tent.

First and foremost....I have spent a ton of time at the lake over the years and have never had a tent be put up and taken down this easily. Literally 5 minutes from bag on the ground until you have a staked and sturdy tent. Sure people can tell you quicker than that, and you can pop it up in 20-30 seconds, but the real test on whether a tent will take some weather or not has to do with how well it is stretched and staked....and that takes a LITTLE time. Just got back from our first trip this weekend....and the wind blew the whole time. We set the tent up in 20mph winds no problem, and took it down in about 40 mph winds. Sure you could have issues setting it up in the wind, but with a little thought and some quick work we managed no problem. All of my other tents I have used in the past were way more difficult.

Second....it is STURDY. It isn't on par with a $400-$500 4 season tent, but it shouldn't be at this price point. We camped on a point and had no protection from a strong south wind off the water, and boy did it blow. The tent took it well. I honestly thought we would have to move but we were killing...
