SHIRLEYY78: I have cut the bale into quarters, and soak in a large wheelbarrow to use as needed. It is a great value, just realize it will expand to very large portions

Tmac: I've tried two other brands, and this was the best by far. Another commenter said it was hard to break apart. I didn't have that experience. I put mine in a large bucket with some water, and overnight it was soft and fluffy.
Other brands took days to weeks to fully break up, and I've even had to use a serrated knife to cut slivers off of one cheap brand I bought years ago. I'm an avid gardener and can recognize a good product when I see it. I use this for potted plants and also add it to my seed mix (about 20%). I really like the soft texture of it and will be buying more.

Amazon customer: Have only used half (too hard for me to cut--my husband used a garden hand-saw to cut along the side the coir shows lines, as someone else advised), and it made enough for what I needed. Will use rest later for potting up, or seedlings in spring.

DiaDia: I’ve purchased 16 Mother Earth Coco Bales in 4 separate orders and my experience has been positive and consistent throughout. Having read the reviews, I was careful to check for any debris, bad smells, failure to expand, etc. I can report there were no bad smells, and there were only a few random tiny rocks and a string of plastic in total. This product should be expanded in a large container. I filled my wheelbarrow with water for each brick. After an hour, most of the coco had expanded (see attached image), and I was able to get the entire batch expanded after a little crumbling by hand. I then dried the expanded coir to get a large amount of fluffy, absorbent material which I’ve used for both potted plants and garden soil amendment. I have several large areas with extremely poor, rocky soil and this summer have amended the areas by removing most rocks and added 1/5 ratio coco coir. Since the coir is fairly neutral, and compost bags are heavy to lug around, I took a shortcut and added some Herd of Worms worm tea fertilizer (https://www.amazon.com/Worm-Tea-Fertilizer-Liquid-Concentrate/dp/B0BZDNCGGZ) with great success. Later I’ll be able to add compost and earthworms, but...
