In addition to neuropathy, he has a very high arch and instep. These fit perfectly! The beach we are on has lots of small shells and rocks that we would have worried about possibly cutting his feet (which is bad when you cannot feel the cuts). These are protecting his feet from that as well as from getting sunburned. He can easily walk around the beach with no issues. I cannot say much about durability yet as this is only day 2 but so far so good. I will be buying more of these! Well I Roth the price for the peace of mind they give.
Update. Day 10: there are small holes in the front of the sock after 10 days. Won’t get us thru 2 trips. A little disappointed with the durability

Fred: I've been using my Churchill fins for a few years now with my Science boogie board with not many problems but this summer I have been using them often enough that they started to cause blisters and cuts. Every time I used the fins it felt like broken glass was in them, it really hurt. This was caused by the small stones that you pick up when you ride a wave back close to the shore line. I tried pulling my ride up short to remain in deeper water but that didn't help much. First I tried using cutoff socks and that helped a little then I tried full socks and that made it worse, small stones continued to get in the fins and irritate the hell out of my feet. One toe looked like someone had taken a drill and drilled a hole almost down to the bone, no joke, a perfect small, round hole. I used these fin socks for the first time today and they are amazing. They are thin enough that my fins still fit and thick enough to keep all of the stones that get into the fins from hurting my feet. I really am impressed. Try them!

Hopmeister: Overall, I am impressed with the quality vs price for this item. It is well made and the traction bottom locks them down in a full fin nicely. However, the size on my pair seem a touch large. Others have commented that they are dead on, or something similar, but for me, they are loose. Here are the particulars:
I ordered "Men's Large 10-11." I wear a 10.5, EE (extra wide) by professional measurement. Trust me, this is dead accurate, as I have been dealing with my wide feet my whole life. As those people afflicted with non-standard sized feet know, finding proper sizes can be a bear, so you have to know your size (not that size accuracy matters much to shoe manufacturers, but that's another story). With this said, I figured that the 10-11 would be perfect. However, they are not, they are noticeably and concernedly loose. They are screen printed on the inside as "L" but perhaps they are really an extra large. Who knows. Maybe it was a bad day for the screen printer in Thailand, too much rice whiskey or something the night before...
I gave it 4 stars for this reason. They work perfect in my fins so far as my fins fit correctly, but the fact that they are loose bothers...

Fliegenpanzer: Tilos Neoprene Fin Socks
Pro: Lightweight, Fine for light currents, Cheap, Comfortable.
Con: Sole is too thin, Tops are not high enough for good fin security.
The rest of the story ...
With the ever decreasing luggage weight allowance on airplanes, I am trying to trim weight wherever I can.
Recently all of our diving has been in the Caribbean which means warm water and minimal currents. I realized that my old 5mm zipup SCUBA booties were overkill. Basically all that I needed was something to keep my foot-pocket (vs full-foot) fins from falling off.
These fin-socks work well.
I have used them now on about 40 dives plus about a dozen pool pre-divetrip tuneup sessions (Chlorine!) and they still probably have about 10 dives left in them.
The two problems with them are that the sole is too thin for comfort on coral beaches or hot docks; more importantly, the ankle tops do not come up high enough to allow good purchase for an open-pocket fin strap. With even moderately hard kicking this fin-sock does start to work loose. I would NEVER use them in any but light currents.
They are however, in my opinion, safe enough for light...

John Henry Riley: I swim 4-5 times a week for a half-hour or hour using fins. I have one hammer toe which rubbed too much on the fin, I bought this because my 2mM thick booty wasn't enough protection. I was forced into wearing a water proof bandaid on it to keep the skin on the toe. Then I found this 3mM thick booty that protects my toe. It's great, and isn't difficult to put on like a toe bandaid.
