Kathy W.: This has been a life saver for me. I have bad knees and a bad back and can sit in a folding chair to do my scooping saving both my back and my knees. I bought mine 3½ years ago. The corners are wearing down a bit and I have to tighten the screws in the handle often, but it's still doing the job and doing it well. I scoop 5 jumbo boxes daily. My Purrr-fect Scoop didn't have one long screw in the handle as many have indicated but rather one shorter screw on each side. The screw holes in the plastic have been stripped for a long time but I rolled up some heavy-duty plastic and put it in each hole and then tightened the screws into the holes against the plastic to give it something to grip to. To me that is just a minor inconvenience. I decided to order a second one to have on hand... just in case... but find that it is currently unavailable. I hope and pray that it has not been discontinued.

Commando: I was scheduled to have foot surgery and I realized to myself that I would not be able to bend down and kneel on my foot and realized I’m going to have a hard time scooping my cat boxes out. And I thought I would either have a cast or full boot on where I would not be able to bend easily either. And I am glad I had this for thought because I envisioned having to tape my scooper maybe to a broom stick to get the length and utility to scoop the boxes standing.
Luckily, when I did a search on Amazon for expandable cat litter scooper this product came up. For the most part I am very pleased with it though I wish it was a little bit more sturdy and hefty. It definitely serves it’s purpose but I was hoping it would’ve been stainless steel or some thing that was less plasticky but it does work and serves the purpose.
It is a great idea for someone who cannot bend or if you have a strange angle where you can’t get to. I don’t get the sense that this thing has a lot of wear and tear to it as I said the scooper part feels very cheap and quality though I’m used to a very heavy stainless steel hand scooper. But as I said I’m grateful that it just works and I can...

Bookworm: (UPDATE) I just wanted to add that I purchased this item TWO YEARS ago now, and it is still going strong. I have two cats, this gets daily use, and it has never failed, cracked, come apart, NOTHING. Would that everything I buy were so well made! I cannot reccomend this item any more strongly.
(Back to my original review:) I purchased this item in advance of spinal surgery, figuring it'd make the process of cleaning out the litter box easier, since bending over was going to be an issue. I was skeptical - I didn't think the item would be durable enough to use long-term, I imagined a flimsy plastic rod that would fall apart quickly, but since I only needed it short term the construction wasn't that important to me.
However, this is a keeper. I was immediately impressed. The shaft is indeed plastic, but it is a thick tube, not a single piece that would bend easily. The actual scoop is also thick and durable plastic, not flimsy in the LEAST. I use a cat litter that can get hard as concrete in the bottom of the litter box, and I've broken flimsy scoops before trying to scrape it up. The combination of this heavy duty device AND the long handle actually makes that process...

KitKat1972: I have severe osteoporoses, have broken multiple bones in the past 5-6 years and recently discovered that I have two compression fractures in my lower spine, apparently just from lifting about 20 pounds as I bent forward. I had done this numerous times in the past without any problem, but on this occasion I had some pain which got MUCH worse by the next day. X-Rays were inconclusive so an MRI was ordered, which showed that I had the two compression fractures. My orthopedic doctor ordered me to stop exercising, stop doing physical therapy for my knee which had been broken a little over year ago, no twisting, no bending, no lifting whatsoever, for at least a month. He ordered a custom back brace for me! Dealing with the kitty litter seemed like an insurmountable obstacle! I question myself for some time about what I could possibly do to solve this problem since I love my two cats dearly. Then it occurred to me that maybe I should look on Amazon and see if by chance they might possibly have a kitty litter scoop with a long handle. I saw a number of different models none of which looked very good at all. They were either flimsy, not well-designed, or poorly constructed, so I almost...

Kindle Customer: Bought this scooper years ago. I'm still using it. It's good for people who can't bend over to clean Cat boxes.
