They are coated because they save money on the metal.
They do the job well, but they feel like a low energy version of the old ones.
They feel nice and soft to the touch.

JHR: The hangers arrived today and are better than expected. Vinyl coated wire hangers offering a slim footprint without being flimsy - in fact, they're sturdier than the others I own (and love). They've eliminated the almost useless plastic tip by coating the hanger all the way to the end of the hanging part meaning not only less plastic in the world but no rough spots to snag fabric or fingers. I use these for blouses - the coating allows easy off/on and matches the thin profile of my cloth/velvet covered hangers. This type of hanger is no longer sold at any local stores so I'm pleased to have found these.

janice s.: I needed more hangars, but couldn't find my favorites from years ago: simple 16" coated hangars with straight "shoulders" so clothes slide on and off easily. I bought flocked hangars with indentations on the shoulders and hated them on both counts: clothes did not just glide on and off, and the indentations left wrinkles in my clothes. Returned them to the store, and continued my hunt, marveling how difficult it was to find the hangars I wanted. I had also tried those thick plastic tubular type hangars in the past but didn't like them, as they take up too much room and always bent out of shape. I finally found these and couldn't be happier! I might add they are coated so it is safe to drip dry items, which I do frequently (no rust). They are very sturdy, like hangars of old and are compact in the closet. Buy these and you, too, will love your hangars!
