DDD Colorado: Heads up: I thought I was overachieving with my earlier Merv13 filters, BUT, when I had an HVAC professional check my new system out, I learned that the 2 stage HVAC unit was not switching to the high output 2nd stage. The newer multistage, variable speed motor system sensed that the airflow was constricted too much at the intake. I switched to the Merv 7 and presto, I've got nice 2 stage performance. Also, in my system I can insert a 1 in thick filter vertically or a larger 2 in filter at diagonal angle. The 2 in gives me more surface area and the added inch of ht also increases the filter surface area which reduces the airflow impedance. I think I'm now getting all the performance with good filtering.

AlejoB: Due to the high cost of filters I had sacrificed quality per cost, so used to buy low MERV filters. I saw these filters and decided to give it a try since the specs looked very good; higher MERV at a good price point.
After using these filters for almost 3 months I replaced the first one I could realized the amount of stuff trapped by the filter; same stuff that would have ended up in our lungs or in any surface at home.
I had never thought that so much dust was circling around, so I am impressed with the performance of the filter. The only downsize I saw was that the filter was bent a little like with a subtle hump which made it difficult to pull it from the unit.

Sharnid: These filters apparently do very well in filtering as we're both allergic to dust mite and pet dander and have a cat. The carbon part does work for capturing smell as well. However, after only 3 weeks of use, they clogged up to a point, although not very apparent visually (shined a light at both a used filter and a new one and compared how much light got through, and visible dust level), the filter restricts furnace air flow to a point which after about 1-hour of continuous running (this happens after we leave home during the day and turn down the heat and turning the heat back on when arriving home), the furnace would overheat and the limit switch would kick in and shut it. At this price point I'd expected better design that has much higher dirt capacity without much additional restriction over time of use.

douggie: These filters are exactly the same as the ones that came with the furnace. Three come in sturdy box so they travelled well and there was no damage.
