  • Product Care Instructions: Strawberry Plant Basics Soil Ideal soil pH is 5.5-6.5. Strawberry plants need well-draining soil. Choose a good quality potting mix that has perlite mixed in. You will then want to add in about 1/3 compost to mix in with your potting soil. This will create a well-draining, nutrient filled soil that your strawberries will love! We recommend to always check your soil's pH. Environment: If your area's daily temp is in the 80s or above you will want to start them in a place that is not in direct sun, such as indoors with a grow light or outdoors on a covered porch. If you are able to start them outdoors right away in the spring then you may place them in your gardening bed or pots, just make sure you mulch them so they may retain moisture when watered., Water: If you are starting them indoors or outside in shade, you may only need to water about twice a week. Once they are outside in full sun, then you will need to adjust your watering to accomadate the direct sun that will cause their soil to dry out at a faster rate. Transplanting Outdoors: Once the plant has grown a few new stems, you may transplant them outside. Usually this will be about two weeks after planting. For the first two days you will want to place them in a shaded area outdoors. These first two days will allow the plant to acclimate to the humidity and temperature of their environment first. And then each day after that you may begin to move them into a little sun and little more each day after that until they are in their permanent home. Be sure to mulch them before starting the transplanting process so their soil may retain the moisture when you water them.

allta sebac: Was a little leery when I first purchased these last year. Not really thrilled with other seed/slash live plants I have previously purchased on Amazon. But time was running out on planting so I took a chance. They arrived doing fine, but again the problem was mine and I had to leave them too long in frig before planting. But when I finally got them in they did OK and gave me a fair amount of very tasty berries. I decided to give them anther try this year (I live in Florida and strawberry planting is best in Sept.-Oct. They arrived a little dry as expected, I sprinkled them with water and placed them again in frig for 2 days. When I pulled them out to plant they were already turning green. I planted them in a hydroponic tower and in less than a week, they are totally green, healthy little plants. This company supplies extremely excellent plants and I will definitely make them my strawberry supplier in the future. Any problems last year were totally my fault, the plants they sent did well under the circumstances I provided them with. I will try to update this review when plants get bigger.

Black Lab: No instructions included on how to plant. After several died I googled how to plant and realized I planted them too deeply. Apparently strawberries are not planted like most plants. They should have included even brief planting instructions

Sarah BoozerSarah Boozer: Being this is my first time planting bare roots, I think I received a good product for the most part. I received the exact amount that was ordered. The only gripe I have was how difficult it was to plant a small handful of them due to the roots of a few were really short (barely long enough to support itself without compacting soil around it) and a few within that bunch also were really short, with a short crown. So not much of a stem to stick out the pot. I planted them all anyway so hopefully I see some progress from a good majority of them.

ROSCOE FRIDLEY: Plants were in transit for almost 3 weeks. I worried what shape they would be in by time I got them. Once delivered bare roots appeared to be fine. I misted the inside of the bag and waited to plant. We had 5 straight days of rain. My ONLY complaint is that I ordered 3 different varieties. All 3 types were in same bag with no separation no description no tags or anything. I wanted to determine what type will be best for me and my area. Oh well.

Debbie Ibanez: I bought bare root stock from this company a couple years ago and was really impressed. The root stock was healthy and good sized; they all came up. This time around, however, I am a bit disappointed. I purchased 25 plants, but only received 22 and a couple of them are really tiny. Also, the root, although healthy looking, had been cut to about two inches. I know sometimes, it is necessary to trim the roots, but I would have preferred to do this myself.
It’s not the kind of thing to return, I think, or I might have. Plus, I didn’t want to wait weeks for more plants, since it is already late in the season. If they all come up, the space will fill in quickly, but still…
