Joann Stringer: I enjoyed this book. By the title, you think it's just 12 days; the event is on a day but the author gives a lot of background to the people and events leading up to the event. I enjoyed so much I purchased a copy for my mother who loves to read all things British and she really savored it.

Vicki Hopkins: This is the first book I've read by Lucy and certainly will not be the last. Love her style of writing as she makes history leap off the page in colorful descriptions, wrapped in the emotions of the historical players themselves. Queen Victoria was a complicated woman, but my greatest surprise is Lucy's comment at the end. "My lasting feelings about her is pity." She was a woman who could not escape being born a Queen. Nevertheless, I loved reading about Albert and Victoria the most, as well as the other major episodes of her life that included John Brown and Karim. Her children, as well, have stories to tell that are just as fascinating.

Emilio: As a thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced reader copy I shall give an honest review of Lucy Worsley’s Queen Victoria: Twenty-Four Days That Changed Her Life. After reading Daisy Goodwin’s VICTORIA, which she based her television series on, I was hooked to the life and time in which Queen Victoria lived. What an extraordinary life she lived, I loved Worsley’s ability to examine the Queen but also reveal the underlaying experiences of Victoria as a woman a head of her time. The biography explores her many roles ex. daughter, wife, and widow. Throughout the biography I enjoyed Worsley’s ability to present information from many historians but also present her conclusions as well. These made the book more tangible and something that kept me reading. One area I found of interest was Victoria’s identity as a widow following the death of Prince Albert. Worsley addresses the current examination in which historians are examining Queen Victoria and present their conclusions as well as her own. I found this made her assumptions more factual and often left you at your own devices developing who Victoria was. The text is academic yet approachable...
