Melissa Russell: This has a lot of space for luggage. We packed all of our luggage fur a family of 5 plus a double stroller with room left over. We traveled from Michigan to Tennessee and back. We traveled through heavy rain and also at speeds up to 80 mph on the expressway. Nothing moved, everything stayed dry and I liked that is compact so we could take it off while we weren't using it and store it in the car.

Stacie: Used this to help us move through a few states. Held our 4 piece hard shell luggage set, 5 sleeping bags, a 10 person tent, queen size air mattress, pillows and a large bag of dirty laundry. Be prepared with a patch kit and maybe some duct tape. We ended up needing two small repairs throughout the trip. Also, we used additional rachet straps, though it went well on the roof rack, the way the straps are set up caused us to use additional reinforcement. Overall, I'm satisfied and definitely served its purpose.

Frank: Did not trust the clamps to hold on to car and purchased additional ratchet straps for added security. Drove 500 miles 1 way and 500 miles on return trip up to speeds of 70mph. The 1st 500 miles, there were no complaints other than the clamps did not seem to be strong enough, hence the additional ratchet straps. In addition, there are no snaps or Velcro to hold flap down in the front and it ripped early into the return trip and continuously flapped causing a loud noise throughout the entire trip. Even stopped and tried to using duct tape to fix the tear and prevent front from flapping but it did not help at all. I would NOT purchase this item and if you do, I would recommend the additional ratchet straps if you want to avoid the entire roof top carrier from coming off. It did not rain except for approx. 30 minutes but nothing got wet which is why I rated it a 3 but that was before the bag started to tear apart.

Th3B01tTh3B01t: We have traveled from Calgary to Vancouver once (900km) and the top part of the bag already has multiple rips on it from wind gusts so therefore I am returning it. I wouldn’t recommend it because the main material is not strong enough to withstand normal usage.

Amazon Customer: Used on a trip. One of the patches that holds the straps started to rip in the middle of our trip. We added additional tie downs to go over the top after the rip. It did not affect the waterproof.

This top carrier held up to some major storms! We went through rainstorms were we had to pull over because we could not see the road. It went through a hail storm and more rain. I swear the rain and storms was moving the same way we were. Of our 6 day trip it rained almost everyday. I was a nervous wreck that our stuff would be drenched. It was dry. I didn't even notice condensation inside the bag.

I was able to replace the bag because of the ripped strap. I was looking at other alternatives but didn't want to risk my stuff getting wet for our drive home. I ordered the same bag for the replacement.

H. LawrenceH. Lawrence: So I bought this bag hoping to use it for winter travels when the car gets packed. Unfortunately I forgot that the car we are traveling with doesn't actually have luggage rails yet. We will remedy this soon, but lets talk about the bag. I honestly wasn't sure how quality it would be the price it was at, but I was delighted with the quality I received. This bag is full encased in a water proof layer that seems very resistant to damage and they even thought of including water guards along the zipper lines so that water would not seep in through those areas. The straps seem strong and honestly everything seems very well built. I was hoping that I could take pictures of it packed onto of my car, but since that fell through, here are some shots of the full side bag when it is flat. I really like how much it fills out on top. I could probably fit 4 or 5 large backpacks or sleeping bags. This is a great bag for its price range!
