DenimDeb: They are sized for what you should be eating. This is very important to those of us trying to lose weight or maintain our weight. The look is clean and you see your food, which is helpful if you really are trying to do 'mindful eating'. The bowls feel good in your hand and hold a decent but not excessive amount - I am very pleased with this inexpensive set. I hope they make serving bowls and platters for this set at some point, I would buy them.
