Bullwinkle: The CD is WONDERFUL!! Sandra Boynton is a genius. The lyrics and music are fabulous. Though geared towards children, as an adult, I find great joy in listening and dancing to it. 😁🤗

Enns: If you have kids in your life, little kids, this is a GREAT choice.

Bryan C.: My toddler loves the pictures in this book, loves to match the pictures to the songs, and loves to sing along. The book and music are sufficiently entertaining that I still find them reasonably enjoyable after going through them at least once a day for weeks. Also, the book so far stands up to overenthusiastic page turns and other mistreatment better than most.

Bill & Michelle Ball: Funny, witty, and enjoyable. We digitized the CD and listen to the songs in the car on long car rides where everyone sings along, this means you'll have the song in your head the day after but at least they're fun songs to have stuck in. I highly recommend you purchase this book + CD combo.

Daher gefallen uns

C. Suriano: This is the fifth or sixth Blue Moo we have bought. We have given them to parents of small people who are not happy, so far the babies have loved the songs. They are perfect for keeping the little people happy in the car! The songs are: "One Shoe Blues" by the indomitable B.B. King, "With You" by Bobby Vee, "Speed Turtle" by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, "Singing in the Shower" by Christopher Kale Jones, "Your Personal Penguin" by Davy Jones of the Monkees, "The Uninvited Parade" By The Uninvited Loud Precision Band, "Mersey Lullaby" by Gerry and the Pacemakers, "Big Band Sound" by John Ondraisik of Five for Fighting, "When a Hippo can Dance" by Keith Boynton, "Loud/Quiet" by Michael Ford, "Your Nose" by Neil Sadaka, "Rabbit Tango" by Patti LuPone, "Gorilla Song" by Sha Na Na, "Blue Moo '62" by The Sparklets, "Blue Moo" by Steve Lawrence, and "The Uninvited Parade Strikes Again" by The Uninvited Loud Precision Band. If you want, you can buy the "One Shoe Blues" and "Your Personal Penguin" as separate books, we did and our kids enjoyed them! B.B. King's book comes with a DVD that is magic! If you want to hear the songs before buying the book, check out YouTube, I think they are...

purpleandy: This is a fantastic CD and book which doesn't have a bad track on it. The variety of artists, genres, styles, tempos and themes is great and the humour of the lyrics also makes it really listen-able over and over again. Our daughter smiles and starts dancing from the very first track and it's so infectious that we can't help but join in. Can't recommend this CD enough.

TokyoPurpleDog: I decided to buy this after reading the review in the New York Times. The song "One Shoe Blues," sung by BB King (and Lucille, his famous guitar), is absolutely masterful. Nice introduction to the Blues for the little ones. Funky and fun and not merely a "children's song."

Currently having fun playing that on the violin-- it's a simple song (simple enough that you can play by ear), but it plays with lots of passion and soul, so you can really get into it and work on your ability to elicit a certain feel from your instrument. Actually a lot of these (Personal Penguin, etc.) would be easily and enjoyably played by a young musician whose interest in his instrument was starting to flag.

The collection as a whole is fun and not annoying to the grown-up to listen to a bajillion times on a road trip.

You can go to YouTube to find a 10-minute video called "Behind the Moosic: The Making of Blue Moo" to listen to bits and pieces of the songs. The New York Times also has a clickable sound file of "One Shoe Blues" in its Feb 17, 2008 article entitled "The Power of Whimsy" (still accessible as of February 2010).

As a side note, be careful if you buy this book used....

Linda Bulger: My first copy of PHILADELPHIA CHICKENS was a gift for my granddaughters. We all enjoyed it so much that I bought three more copies -- each one for myself but impulsively given away.

Now I have BLUE MOO, and I'm keeping it for myself, so don't even hint for it.

You may know Sandra Boynton's impressive children's books but this music thing she has going on is something else again. "Renegade children's music," she calls it. BLUE MOO is subtitled "17 Jukebox Hits from Way Back Never," and trust me, you don't need children around to enjoy it.

Boynton collaborated with composer Michael Ford on these 17 fractured hits, and she mustered another stellar group of performers for the CD.

Patti LuPone shines on "Rabbit Tango," and yes, that's the amazing B.B. King delivering the goods with "One Shoe Blues." Christopher Kale Jones of JERSEY BOYS fame croons "Singing In The Shower."

When was the last time you heard a new release from veteran Neil Sedaka? Here he is in great doo-wop form with "Your Nose." And speaking of doo-wop, we have Sha Na Na singing "Gorilla Song" ("Banana nana nana nana, na na na"). Bobby Vee takes you down memory lane with the...
