B. Hart: The good: It works... for a while. This bellows really moves air, and sure beats the heck out of huffing and puffing.

The bad. It is cheaply made. After about a month of daily use, the black fabric between the wood panels had warn a hole through it. It was easily fixed with black duct tape. Then the brass? nozzle started to come loose, again I wrapped it with black duct tape and it stayed in.

My suggestion is that if you get this, go ahead and order some black duct tape and cover all the black surfaces, along with securing the nozzle to the bellows.

I have had it now for 3 years and as long as I keep adding black duct tape, it works.

Matt: Great product. Really gets the air in the fireplace, keeps the fire going for as long as I feed it with wood. When the flames go down, just about thirty or forty five seconds of bellowing grows the flame. Great product at a great price. Looks great with the fireplace tools and has a leather hanger to hang on the tool stand.

loveguitar: I bought this for my husband for Christmas this year since he asked for a "bellows". I guess he got tired of blowing the fire and having ashes blow back into his face. He's already used it several times and the last time (just the other night) he said this was one of the greatest inventions of all time. I don't necessarily agree with him on that, but this bellows delivers quite a nice blast of air through a slender nozzle. It's easy to aim it right at certain spots to get the fire started. It looks a little small, but don't let that deceive you. It can really pump out some air in powerful bursts. You can control the strength of the bursts with the pressure you use to squeeze the bellow handles together.

Pretty wood with leather. It should last years and years if taken care of. He's happy with it so therefore I am too!

eyes N ears: We got a cord of wood this year and started using the fireplace. I remembered that out west, we used a bellows. It was a cheapo but it did a great job...until it started falling apart after about a year.
I ordered this just looking for something to blow air. But, I needed to consider looks as my better half would object...it needed to look nice.
Ordered this and at first was disappointed that it was smaller than I thought. It wasn't as big as the one out west and I didn't think it would work for us.
But, hey...it blows and in the end, that's all that matters. I have to pump more than I did with my old one but its not as if I have to stand in front of the fire for hours pumping. 20 or so good pumps at strategic points in the fire do a great job and I do not have to stick my face in the fire and blow anymore.
There are bellows that cost a lot more and are a lot bigger. But price was a key consideration.

There is no practical reason to want anything bigger...unless you have a really big fireplace. For standard fireplaces, this works very well, looks good, and is in a great price range.
