Garry sandsGarry sands: Fits great on the car. I ordered a Japanese number plate £25 available in the UK. Fits perfectly in the slot provided no messing around. Extremely high quality product did not move an inch when I tested it out. Gives me so much more room 😁.
I have knocked together a big box to go inside so I can now pack the bag while it is fitted to my car. I also bought a small LED strip off Amazon to Illuminate the number plate. Absolutely fantastic.

Gary A.Gary A.: Very sturdy material. Quality product. As others have mentioned I built a frame using 3/4 inch pvc. Three 10 foot pieces is enough with minimal waste. I cut the frame so that it is about a half inch smaller in width, height and depth as described in product specifications. The elbows are also available on Amazon in a bag of 10. Cheaper than Home Depot. Make sure you flip the cover edge straight up all around before zipping lid shut.... then fold edge over zipper. Again the frame gives it shape so attaching to back of car will be easier and then we can load and unload while on the car. Using on a 2012 Mazda 5 Sport.
Update. I attached the carrier to the rear of the car and it works flawlessly. Only issue I had was that the straps were about a foot too short to secure to roof rack so I had to use an additional strap on each side to attach to roof rails. I also used excess tie down to tie the two roof rack straps (tied them parallel to roof crossbars) to prevent straps from sliding down to the side of the car. Took on a loaded test run and worked flawlessly.
Others have complained straps did not hold. If you don't have experience with strapping down items I would suggest...

Jaz: So the bag itself works really well. Was a bit concerned due to all reviews being American.

The licence plate I bought was a uk motorcycle one and it was too big needed to trim down the top and bottom to ensure full plate was on view.

I had to make a frame out of pvc tubing to keep the bag sturdy.(cost about £12 for the parts from toolstation and amazon for connectors) But it has travelled over 300 miles so far with no issues. Hasn't had rain yet but looking at bag shouldn't see any issues.

When you put it on it doesn't feel safe but I can tell you it 100% is providing you have tightened it right. Handy tip most boots have black stoppers make sure the bag strap is above those if not tieing to bottom of car

Cannot be used at night due to no lighting on licence plate.(could be built on) But i dont need it for what I use it for.

Overall impressed hope this helps others 👍

JadamsJadams: I drove from Florida to Chicago with the car-back carrier on a Nissan Rogue. It worked great! For how much this thing holds, and the relative ease of use, you can't beat the Rightline for value. It's smartly designed, and holds a lot of stuff. I actually had a hard time filling it up.

As suggested by other reviewers, I put a large plastic tote in the bottom. I don't think this is necessary to do this, but it was very helpful for gauging where the bottom of the pack needed to be when doing the initial strap adjustments. The lip on the tote also added a little more security because it prevented the belly strap from potentially riding up. It always felt secure, and I never worried that the pack would slip around, fall off, or come apart.

The material of the pack itself and the webbing of the straps is very thick. The stitching is robust, and the plastic fasteners are hefty. The only issue I had was with the zipper. That is one huge honkin' zipper, and it was not easy to get it around the corners, especially with cold fingers.

Overall, I am 100% satisfied with my experience. I'd recommend the product to any friend, family member, or stranger on the internet. I...

ShallahShallah: the "frame" that comes with it is an h shape that only goes on the very bottom.
if you don't put supports or something inside, the thing is just a mess.

since i have no SkillZ and can't build myself anything, i put a 189l rubbermaid box into it. (without the lid)
the box was already cracked and garbage, so i don't care that it's squished, but it definatly won't be useable after this trip. it's got really squished and cracked.
the tote fills maybe halfway up the bag? and fills about 3/4 of the bottom. so it's a really big bag.
but you def can't travel around without some sort of support, it'll shift around and fall out or something.

i'm going across canada.
it was sunny skies and very nice out, and everything inside the backpack got wet.
i have no idea why or how.
road splashing??? everything inside the suitcases are damp and smell like road and so far we've only had it for 9 hours on the road. 4 more days to go.

not a huge deal cause i am generally not a clean person, but you i guess you don't want to carry food or anything inside.

i got ratching straps from the get go since i don't trust the included straps alone. good idea, cause...

R. CisnerosR. Cisneros: We needed a large carrier for our small Kia that doesn't have a trailer hitch or a roof rack. This was the right thing for sure!!! Of course in real life it doesn't look like the sales photo but it worked and that's all that matters. Loved it because I can get to my stuff easy, holds tons, didn't obstruct my view, didn't cause the drag, inexpensive, easy to lift on and use, all my stuff in one pack, water proof. Really nothing I don't like.
Other stuff not just out of the box: We had to buy the clips but they were easy once we figured it all out. We followed another review's advice to put a board in the bottom (we bought light weight holed shelving board for like $5 and rounded the edges and covered with duck tape). We had to use bungee cords on the bottom cause we had nothing to hook the straps to and used the center strap just for extra support- put that inside the car where you want it first. It has tons of room- we had 8 bags of clothes, 2 sleeping rolls, 2 pillows, and some blankets and still had tons of room! But the weight limit is 100 lbs so we went to Walmart and got the blue shopping bags and put clothes for the day in those bags (Mon. bag, Tues. bag etc.) and skipped...

sosohappy: I have to say I really like this saddlebag. I'm vertically challenged, so getting something for the top of the car is useless. I didn't give a 5 star because all the previous complaints of setting it up are true. Instructions and diagrams are poorly represented here. A plywood base is essential. Filling the bag was a bit of an issue once hooked up, because it caves in on itself. Definitely a two person job to fill and then lift.

This was clearly built for vans and SUVs. My matrix is less wide, so there was some concern with the car hooks sliding off to the left or right. I used one of the extra straps to wrap car hook to car hook. That did the trick.
