Arthur: The thermome is exactly what I needed for brewing beer on the stovetop as it's easy to read and seems to be accurate. The only thing I noticed is that the little metal stopper is cheap so after a few uses, I couldn't place it on the pot like I normally would. Otherwise, I have no complants about this thermometer

NixImages: Thought about buying a brew kettle with a thermometer built it but then decided that having something permanently protruding into the kettle, getting in the way of stiring was not necessarily a good thing so I bought this instead. Let's face it, you only need it to monitor the mash water. You don't need it to check the boil but it does come in handy when cooling the wort. Just clip it to your brew kettle and you're good to go. I checked it against an instant read digital thermometer and it was right on, at least when reading whole degrees.

William E.: I compared the temperature on this to a digital one I have and both read similarly. So I assume it to be accurate as the digital I have, not to say I can guarantee either is actually accurate but they both seem to be. My only complaint is that if you get the gauge part wet, even rinsing it off, water gets inside. I sat it in the desert sun here and in a day it was clear. Not really a big problem, just something to be aware of.
