dms_25: My Down syndrome sister love this word search… it was categorized in a way that she enjoys. Like the months … colors…
There was some words that was a challenge for her to find when the words are backwards and not straight forward.

Brittany ShieldsBrittany Shields: My 4 year old just started doing word searches so I got her this book hoping it would work for her age and wouldn’t be too hard. It was a hit! She did like 10 pages in one sitting. It starts off easy and gets harder as the book goes. So the first several pages are just 4 words to find and none of them are diagonal. By page 17 there are diagonals and 5 words to find. The first backwards word is page 33. The number of words increase and by the end there are 12 words to find.
I also love that the pages are like normal paper- not that thin newspapery type of paper that is used in a lot of puzzle books. My daughter mainly uses markers for these but if she wanted to use pencils it wouldn’t tear the paper.
Just a side tip. I had no idea my 4 year old would be able to understand word searches but what works for her is to look at the first two letters. So for the word “cloud” she looks for a ‘c’ by an ‘l’ and once she find that she sees if there is an ‘o’ next etc until she finds the word. Using this method and understanding the letters have to be next to each other in order she can do them by herself. Diagonals are the trickiest for her but those don’t...

Perrya Gaji: It is great. My daughter is 5. I just get this for her. My plan was to have her circle certain letter in the puzzle. Turn out she was able to do it. Its start of with little word which is great. They dont get frustrated to complete it.

Rudy Gonzales: This book, as the header mentions, offers many different puzzles varying in length, topic, and difficulty. I think it's a good way to build up vocabulary, spelling, and word patterns. Instead of just putting all 101 puzzles out there, it has transition pages as the puzzles become slightly more challenging. Not only that, but the author offers words of encouragement in between puzzles as the kids work their way up. I would have preferred more color from the drawings, but nevertheless, the puzzles do their job. Although the answers are in the back of the book, maybe it would have been better to see them upon request, so that a child is not tempted to look at them right away. Also, if there was another element/dimension to these word puzzles, that would be cool, e.g. a secret word from the puzzle that you get from the hidden words, but just a suggestion. Nevertheless, I'd recommend the book if your child likes word puzzles and as a possible way to strengthen their vocabulary/spelling.

Tonia: We like to spend one night a week doing things as a family. Sometimes that means board games. Some times, it's all about a good movie and some popcorn. That being said, the little one has been struggling a bit in school with spelling and logic-style thoughts. We looked into how we can make learning more fun and found that puzzles or activity books can be an engaging but subtle way to help with this. The puzzle book came in las t night and we did 5 puzzles together. At first, we aimed for two but they loved it so much - we kept going. This morning, the kiddo asked if we could do 5 more after dinner. I'm thrilled that the kid is enjoying these, thrilled that it is something we can do together, and even more excited that it will help with their puzzle solving ability. Highly recommend this puzzle book for parents of kids who like puzzles, are struggling a bit with thinking things out, or just want something to do.
