HappyShopper: Fairly small envelopes are the right size for an 8.5 x 11 copy paper folded in half. I use these for filing papers of appliances which I buy, etc., in my personal filing cabinet. Would be fine for mailing papers, too. The thickness is fine. I just compared them with the same size envelope which is the brand of a major office supply company. These are slightly thicker and therefore better. I also have some old envelopes this size which are way too flimsy. I am happy with these and will order them again when I run out.

SarahSarah: They were ok except the metal closure in the back made impressions and left black color on the fronts of all the envelopes which did not look professional to use to mail out professional newsletter packets.
