Steve: Not a deal breaker, but it isn't the 5.4 cm as described, but only 4.5 cm long; 6.5 cm if you include the keyring.

However, it isn't very loud, certainly nowhere near the 120 dB advertised, based on my experience with noise sources. That level of sound should cause you at least light discomfort when blowing it; it doesn't.

Further, it only produces a whistle with a moderate level of blowing. If you try to create a louder sound by blowing harder, the whistling reduces to just the sound of blowing air.

Fine as a kids toy, but not realistic for important signalling needs.

jims.items: YAY! Great little metal whistles. Loud and inexpensive. Black color, no odor. Clean, not sticky. The metal seems sturdy and the whistle itself might have other uses devised in a backcountry situation. There is a removabel study ring attached to each whistle thru the sturdy hole on the whistle. I am going to buy another 10 pack because I want one for each car, each purse, and each jacket. My husband is putting them in his jackets and clipped to his fishing bag and one to his vest. I bought these specifically as alert whistles in case I fall off the trail into the bushes or rocks (or stream). If the whistle gets wet, it has to have harder blowing multipl times to make the sound come out loud. There are no little balls inside, so the whistle keeps working, it is sturdy and tiny. About the size of a ball point pen cap. The ring is about the size of a penny. Inexpensive great little metal whistles with sturdy metal rings included. The 10 pack comes in a small baggie, be sure to look for it if you get a big box.
