I bought this for my mother, as she could never get my father's attention. It worked like a charm. He would come to see what she needed.
After she passed, we couldn't find it in the house, anywhere. I hope wherever it is, my mom is laughing every time it's rung.

The reason that I bought this bell was because we started having a stray dog hanging around my husband's pet dog. His dog stays outside during the day, tied to a long leash and it seems that since his pet is a female dog other dogs are started coming into our yard--after her. Yelling at the other dogs doesn't seem to keep them away for very long. So I got this loud bell in hopes that it would scare the stray dogs away. Well, it worked! Every time a stray comes into our yard I run out the door ringing the bell vigorously and we never see another stray dog for the rest of the day. So this bell worked for our purpose & I am glad that I bought it. The bell is very loud and seems to be very sturdy. I have had no problems with it.
