C. Fraley: I purchased this as a replacement gauge for an aeroponics setup. The old gauge was not oil-filled, and water got into the gauge, and then it started leaking. Not good. It also chattered considerable when the pump was running (the needle would oscillate between ~0 PSI and ~150 PSI on each stroke of the pump).

So I wanted an oil-filled replacement, figuring that'd dampen the needle swing, which it does. My system runs at 80 PSI to 100 PSI. I don't have a good way of measuring the accuracy of the gauge, but it's loosely in the ballpark, at least. I'll report back if it fails after a few months (which is all the previous one lasted).

CFCF: Works really well. I had to install a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve + Expansion Tank) on my home setup and in the water main closet didn’t have a lot of space. Bought two other gauges before this that only went up to 160 PSI but their 1/4” threading had a strange cross cut (signs of poor manufacturing or quality control) that led to leaks unless I cranked down on it hard regardless of how much teflon tape and pipe dope I used. These gauges go up to 200 PSI, seem to be more responsive, little larger dials, and seated with no issues first time. I wanted two gauges for a before/after reading and the final setup turned out perfect.

E. Zenisek: I had a water heater that kept bleeding from the relief valve. I suspected it was due to an over pressure issue because we have a check valve at the street connection preventing water pressure from going back into the municipal system. I used this gauge to verify that. As expected, the pressure in the system went as high as 150psi while the heater was heating, which caused the relief valve to leak. I could clearly see the pressure on the gauge and the resulting drop and level off as the valve bled the extra pressure.

I purchased an expansion tank and pressurized it to about 70 psi using a digital tire gauge, which is just over where our street pressure usually is. Sure enough, the next time the water heater did it's thing, the pressure leveled out right at 70 psi, exactly where it was supposed to.

Thanks to the gauge, I could see it all in real time. I got this one because of the positive reviews and the fear that a non fluid filled gauge would be inaccurate. Can't say anything about those, but I definitely trust this one.

James C: I have a new NIST certified 200 psi gauge with .25% accuracy full range (+/-) .5 psi of actual pressure. When I compared the two of these new PIC gauges that I bought to that gauge at 120 psi, I get 2.5 psi greater on one of the PIC gauges and 5.0 psi greater on the second PIC gauge. The PIC gauges are advertised to have an accuracy of 1.5% which should make them within 3 psi of actual pressure within the center range of the gauge. At best, assuming my NIST certified gauge is reading low by .5 psi and the PIC gauges are reading high by 3 psi. the first PIC gauge would be within the tolerance of the NIST gauge so no real problem there, but the second would still be 1.5 psi high outside the range of the NIST gauge. The two PIC gauges appear to be about 2.5 psi different of each other on the same pressure source. Also, I suggest you do not cut the nipple off the black rubber vent plug as the instructions indicate. If you do, your gauge will certainly leak unless it is mounted vertically with the rubber vent on top. To vent the gauge, slightly lift one edge of the rubber vent and the pressure will equalize with the atmosphere and may need venting periodically. If you feel the air...

MrFizzAtFizzGizDotComMrFizzAtFizzGizDotCom: This is not a 200 PSI gauge. I received mine today. It is a 5000 PSI gauge. Although it seems well made, I cannot use it for obvious reasons. See attached picture.

24-JUN-2018 UPDATE - I really wanted this thing. Thinking that something went wrong in the order-picking process, I ordered another one. The 2nd one received looked EXACTLY like the item pictured. I'm quite happy with it. Am changing the 1-STAR rating to a 5-STAR rating
