Steve in Massachusetts: I tested it with 3 hats. After reading the reviews I did use 2 small (2 1/2") zip ties on the frame to ensure it stayed closed during washing. It worked as expected - hat was not crushed and it was clean.

Douglass Price: After receiving this product I noticed that the skeleton protecting the cap has been reinforced. This was an issue people had issues with the skeleton being too flimsy. I sprayed the dirty spots with Shout, put the cap inside the protector and put it in the wash on gentle cycle. The cap and protector made it through the spin cycle no problem. My cap came out clean and looking like new. Left the cap in the protector over night under the ceiling fan and in the morning it was already dry. I highly recommend this item for your dirty ball caps.

MegMeg: Works great! Only issue is it’s a little hard to open but it stays shut well while in the washer. I’ve washed 2 hats with this and the look great and brand new after! You can flex the bill after the wash as well to get the curve you’d like.
