decoderdm: Not a thick or soft leather. It’s ok for tee ball or backyard practice but if little league is your game then this isn’t ready hard pitches.

Walter R. Christian: Good glove, the kids on the team seemed to like it and some actually did rather well using it. I kinda wish I good give it 4.5 stars but its tough to rate as I am not a user of the glove. My son loved it so much so he would like to catch full time next season, note he is six.

MG: I was debating between this and the Mizzuno, which we were able to look at in person. Some of the reviews of the Mizzuno talk about the pocket being too small and I didn't read that about this one. Now that this one is here it does seem huge, definitely bigger than the Mizzuno, so I think the pocket probably is bigger. The downside is that it's very stiff. I expected it to be more broken in than it is so we will have to work in it. The Mizzuno is definitely more game ready. It's certainly too big for my small six year old but this is what he really, really wanted for his birthday. He'll grow into it eventually. I debated between this size and the 31.5" but went with this as the catchers I talked to at stores said the 31.5" is so small that balls tend to pop right out. I couldn't find any local stores that carry that size at all so I decided on the bigger one. I think he thinks he will just magically be a good catcher now that he has the glove but he's also really willing to stay outside all day working on it.
