BGretired: After a month in place, this is a great unit. It is strong, the lid works well, and the paint is thick and solid. It mounts with two screws. I used a manual (but ratchet) screwdriver since the screw holes are a bit lower than the top of the front wall of the unit, requiring angled contact. I definitely recommend it if the size meets your requirements (works fine for this house).

Timbo: Mailman & Paperman both utilize this box that I mounted next to my mom's front door! She is 90 years old and can't make it down to her streetbox anymore! This was a good purchase!

mjsmjs: Really like the look and was easy to install. I did add washers as suggested by other reviews.
Had mailbox hanging on vinyl siding using siding clips, which I do not recommend. I believe the cold weather caused the clips to let go of the siding. Mailbox fell to the concrete and lid came off but nothing broke. Impressed that one of the hooks did
not break. Checked the box and found that the sides were bowed out, allowing the top to easily come off. I dont think the bowing was caused by the mailbox falling. Possible the cold causing the metal to bend. Got the sides pushed back in and the lid fits correctly. Back panel needs to be attached with more screws and needs to secured with nuts. Can almost guarantee the thin metal will let go soon.

A. Hawley: This mailbox has a nice solid feel once it's mounted. It's attractive, with that little something extra in the subtle curve of the lid and a small ornamentation on the handle. There's a nice rectangular panel embossed on the front where you could attach a house number. The mailbox is just big enough to hold most mailings, large envelopes, and small parcels.

Why not five stars? No mounting instructions and a bit of confusion and trouble to mount: The mailbox ships with two wood screws (plus anchors), but there are three mounting holes, round rather than keyhole style. Two are along the top of the back panel and easily accessible. The third is centered below them, down inside the mailbox where no screwdriver could reach.

To mount the mailbox to a wall using all three holes (which I wanted for a solid three-point attachment) you really do have to take the mailbox apart and mount the back panel, then reattach the front-and-lid section. Thanks to another Amazon reviewer, I knew this was possible. It's simple enough--three short philips screws hold front and back together. Just unscrew them, hold the back plate up where you want it and mark the three holes, then drill...

Teufel Hunden 83: I'm extremely happy with this mailbox. It replaces a thinner walled metal mailbox that has been in use since 1998, and this one actually feels sturdier than the old one. I'm expecting this one to last for a couple of decades. I did add a piece a felt to the underside of the lid (Centered at the front edge), which quieted it down considerably. Not that it was a huge annoyance, but I prefer that it makes no noise each time I have to open/close it. No need to announce the use of my mailbox each day. This box has the same dimensions as my old box, and I've never experienced a lack of room for even a few days worth of mail. It holds quite a bit. The paint appears to be of higher quality too (Automotive type). It looks very nice in its mounted position. It also came with the white newspaper hooks that mount on the bottom (Metal also), but since I don't receive the paper, I decided to leave them off. I think it looks better without the hooks too. A great mailbox, and I think you'll be very happy too...
