Skeptical: This tool works just as advertised if you follow the instructions and the tips in these reviews to "squeez the tool tip fingers together a bit". This prevents the problem of the valve getting stuck in the tool.

It fixed a leak problem I have had for years in one of my A/C units and I did not need to remove the coolant!

Take your time, read the instructions and recommendations before use, and practice the sequence of steps a few times in a dry run. If you do this, valve replacement is simple and quick.

Tool is surprisingly good quality for the price point. Valves and caps are also good quality.

Saved me a ton of money on a service call!

David: With the crazy economy we find ourselves, my son and I ended up doing our own AC repair. We replaced our A-Coil and outside condenser unit with all the filters, fittings, etc. We also decided to use the solder with flux method as opposed to the silver rod brazing method. We were successful just before the hot muggy weather overtook our part of the country. Our system continues to work well and these valve core remover was a required component to do both the pressure test and vacuum test before we charged our system.

K Newton: SO i was a HVAC tech for over 5 yrs in the 90's and never used a valve stem replacement tool by self.. On my home system i have or now had 4 leaking king valves on the HP units outside.

I had watch a video on how to use the tool which was good but not expectually my experience. Make the first one on the easy to access did unlike what I did..

When you screw the tool on the port dont get it so tight.. if you get a slight leak it not a big deal.. When you open the valve and push the rod into the port be slow and you might need to twist it as well to make it through.. (hold the tool up take the rod out to see the chamber you are sliding stuff through to know what you are feeling before hooking it up.. )

When you start to remove the old stem make sure to gently push the tool on to the valve so it attached to stem,, as you start to unscrew stem the pressure will try to push the rod out of your hand so keep slight pressure on the end while you are unscrewing the stem.. keep turning till you feel it click which mean it out of the treads on king valve.

now gently start to guide the extrector back with old stem, no need to pull as the pressure is pushing you...
