Techno Dan: I use clove buds not for cooking, but for making my own clove cigarettes (I grind them), and these cloves are excellent. I looked through half an 8 oz bag, and found no stems or any discolored cloves to discard. The flavor of these cloves is excellent, and the price is very reasonable for such good quality.
