This cable absolutely works. We plugged it in to my sons school laptop and into an older Dell monitor that only had a VGA connection and it works perfectly. Good resolution and easy to use. Highly recommend if you are using for a computer to monitor connection that requires an HDMI to VGA connection.

It only transfers signal from HDMI to VGA, not reversible from VGA device to HDMI monitors.
Yeah...exact opposite what I needed it for. Works perfectly the other way, not so much the way I needed.

Tried an adapter to set up my dual monitors initially but the connection wasn't reliable so the second screen didn't always work. This worked perfectly as soon as I attached it. Now I have reliable dual monitors.

I purchased this to use it for projecting my laptop to a screen. Currently I have a hub but I wanted to replace it with this cheaper option. I connected the hdmi to the computer and the vga to my monitor (I already have one monitor connected to the vgi output of my laptop) - restarted my computer but it would not recognize the input. Apparently, you can use only one output - vga or hdmi. I had one monitor on the vga so I could not use the hdmi. My only option is to purchase a usb to vga. When I used this on its own, it works perfectly. However, I need to project on more than one monitor so I had to return it.
