Amazon Customer: Hunt is not a writer, yet he gets his message across loud and clear. You can train a horse to do anything. If you want to make this fast, be supremely kind and gentle handling your horse

buckshot: A short and easy read for the horse person seeking timeless answers to age old questions. Ray Hunts is referenced by many currently famous horse people. His words repeated and updated like religion.

Bake Woman: This is a thoughtful little book, but one I return to again and again. The way the book is written, and the gentle way he has in communicating his wealth of wisdom about horses, kind of gives the impression of the calm and confident master that he is. Because you can't read a book as you're trying to work with your horse, I read a little at a time, so that the lessons eventually become a part of me. I usually refer to it when I'm planning what to do with my horse each day. It's not primarily a step-by-step instruction manual, but more of a way of approaching horses, a "feel." Everyone who desires to be a horseman, as opposed to just a rider, should have this book.

Victoria Hammond: First bought the book in 1982. Rode with Ray Hunt, and watched him, Tom Dorrance, and Bill Dorrance work, often. Pat Parelli, met in 1988, is my current senior leader, as the others have gone to Horseman's Heaven, but they were some of the finest men on the planet, all who truly understood horses, and were able to share that understanding, deeply with humans who were fortunate to encounter them. Just got it again, as fire took allof my wonderful books and so i am not getting autographed copies, but I am grateful to touch and read, and remember the finest. My Draft cross, 1/2 Friesian 1/2 Percheron, born out of a pmu Percheron, after she foaled her first Percheron at 3 at my home, later bought by someone for the breeding to a Friesian, now mine. Too stove up to be the first on her back, a fellow who had Ray do a clinic at his stable in 1982, first saddled my Bel,and rode her a month or so, while I came around the last several days, and rode her with him, even working cows on her back. Since the woman who bred the pmu Percheron to get that darling filly, decided not to keep it, I was most fortunate to get her a couple years ago. Thanks to Mike's understanding of Ray's concepts, he...

T. Vanhala: Brilliant book for people not looking for quick fixes or 'how to' manuals.
This is more of a philosophy of how to ride, making you think how you communicate with your horse and how you come across to your horse. An absolute gem, which makes riding a relaxed and pleasant activity for both you and the horse.
Mixes fabulously with classical dressage principles. I couldn't believe how sensitive, philosophical and 'soft' cowboys could be.
Ride now like this my big Finnhorse and it works like a dream; blended in with the classical dressage training (Faerber) he is now an unbelevably wonderful, cooperative and calm horse to ride without any conflicts.
