Lily DuBay: I’ve read this book before and it has changed my life! I recommended it to several family friends and decided to just get my own copy to share. This was a great used deal, and the book arrived good as new. I’d recommend this book to anyone who sleeps (and especially to those who cannot!).

Stephen T Simms: Get the most accurate information about how important it is to get sleep from the Sleep Scientist. I was impressed with the author, Matthew Walker, and his eloquent writing talent. My English teachers would be impressed with the quality of the diction and vocabulary. A thoroughly education and enjoyable read. Now, get some good sleep! This book will show you how important it is.

Mauricio Antonio Tamer: Life changing book. You will learn why to sleep, including a very consistent and technical answer. After reading this book, for sure, you will learn how to improve many areas of your life.

Chuck D.: This book has taught me an awful lot about how critical sleep is not only to our memory and congnizance, but to our physical well-being for so many reasons. And Dr. Walker backs this up with the sleep studies world wide that prove his assertions. He discusses how a lack of sleep can impact the body's ability to rid itself of toxins, how cells are impacted, how various stages of sleep serve as mandatory renewal processes that without greatly increase our vulnerability to mental illness, cancer and sickness. I wish I could have read it years ago as I might have for many years done things very differently. A must read.

SM: I highly recommend this book!

The book explains a lot of studies and the number of hours each group sleeps, etc etc. It is tedious until you get the information you are curious to know.
But reading a summary does not give you the knowledge in brief. Tried it! One really has to read the book in order to understand.

I am very happy I read this book. It should be mandatory to have read it. I learned facts that will make me make changes to my life. Small changes, but nonetheless changes that will hopefully improve my sleep and my life.

Highly recommended!!!!

Jonathan Lauzon: I learned a lot of things about sleep, this book is great and Matthew knows his so much subject as he is one of the best sleep expert scientist in the world.

I even subscribed to the Masterclass platform in part to watch his video Masterclass, which is essentially a condensed version of the book but to hear him talk with passion about his subject was very complementary to the book. He is very well articulated and speaks clearly.

Conclusion: Everyone should read this book. Sleep is so underrated in our society.

LenZen: "I was once fond of saying, 'Sleep is the third pillar of good health, alongside diet and exercise.' I have changed my tune. Sleep is more than a pillar; it is the foundation on which the other two health bastions sit. Take away the bedrock of sleep, or weaken it just a little, and careful eating or physical exercise become less than effective, as we shall see."

― from “Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams”

Matthew Walker's "Why We Sleep" is one of the two most important books I have read in my life1. Having done a little stock trading along with having survived several tech industry "death marches," things which are quite antithetical to good sleep, I had little idea just how destructive to your health lack of sleep is. A few years back, however, I began to hear that lack of sleep was correlated with diseases such as Alzheimer's, but this did not strike me as convincing since correlation is not causation. Indeed, a little later, I heard about this book at work but was somewhat ambivalent. It's just going to tell me that doctors think sleep is essential but are vague as to why were my thoughts.

Luckily I noticed an episode of Sam...

Ian Mann: I bought this book out of general interest. It is an international bestseller by a former professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and is currently a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.
Here is why I am reviewing this book in a business newspaper.
I believed, as you may, that “pulling an all-nighter” was a badge of honour, a clear sign of commitment and fortitude. President Trump brags of sleeping only 4 hours a night. Just last week a client told me with an element of pride, that he sleeps less than five hours a night. And he wasn’t the first.
With what we know now, this is about as absurd as bragging that you are a wife-beater, and that you drive drunk!
Consider the facts. Driving without having had sufficient sleep is the cause of hundreds of thousands of traffic accidents and fatalities each year. In the US, one person dies in a traffic accident every hour due to a fatigue-related error, exceeding road deaths caused by alcohol and drugs - combined.
“Every component of wellness, and countless seams of societal fabric, are being eroded by our costly state of sleep neglect: human and financial...
