M. Bellamy: Uncle Ben's is the best rice on the market, A lot of supermarkets don't carry this rice anymore which is strange but I figured I would order through amazon. I enjoy cooking this brand of rice.

M. Gilmore: This is the rice of my childhood. It is not always available in the local stores, and I am happy that I can buy it from Amazon.

BGrace: Who knew this old standby from my youth would be not only good for lowering blood sugar (counterintuitive with a starch like rice but look up studies on it) , and a boon to my 'Microbiome'!?

Apparently this is a good source of Resistant Starch, which acts as a prebiotic - as important as the probiotic -- feeds the good bacteria in your gut, which is your '2nd brain' and the source of many feel good (or feel bad) hormones and neurotransmitters.

People who have checked their blood sugar post meal with this actually found it lowered. I havent tried it myself and I don't have diabetes, but I know keeping the blood sugar lower is an important aspect of weight control - which I am always interested in doing.

So many health issues people are struggling with in our country can be related to problems in the microbiome -- believe it or not there are actually more bacteria in us than there are ''us'' cells, and their makeup and communication determines in great degree our health or lack of it - including emotions and cognitive abilities -not to mention immune support.

Because of all the ''insults'' our guts and bodies take with processed empty ''foods'' pesticides...
