Comments

Rochelle: This book is a great way to get into book binding. The projects start simply and build until the final project, which is a beautifully done hard-backed, bound book. The introduction to tools, paper and techniques are thorough but not overwhelming. Overall this is such a lovely book and you feel as though the author is there with you, gently guiding you through the projects!

Amazon Customer: An excellent book that I added to my library about making books. The directions; images and information were all top notch.

Giulia: Ho reso il libro poiché l'ho trovato complesso probabilmente per l'inglese troppo tecnico e per le foto poco esplicative e intuitive.

Italy on Mar 10, 2023

H. H.: Für mich ist es weniger ein Werkbuch als vielmehr ein Ideenbuch. Es macht Freude es anzusehen und zu lesen. Allerdings ausschließlich in englischer Sprache.

Brian Findlay: I like this book. Wish I had bought a paper version rather than a kindle version, but that's on me. Good, straightforward information.

kathleen verheydenkathleen verheyden: Love her book and she is also very nice, but there are several pages probably badly printed. Seller could not see this since it was wrapped in plastic, but surely the printing company should check her books before wrapping them. Apart from that well explained, nice projects, and I would recommend it to anyone!

Babs Hugs: I love how she infuses watercolor into the bookbinding process. This inspired me to get my watercolors out to experiment. She starts simply: explaining the materials and the best way to use them. She goes into depth about finding the weight and grain of the paper, which I'll have to explore more as I go. This is the first book I've visited, so I can't say for sure how easy it is to follow. I made the first few books that don't require thread and are stand alone. I look forward to trying the more difficult ones as I go. I recommend starting with the very first ones, using soft paper so that folds are easier to maintain.

Maggie BergmanMaggie Bergman: The projects are gorgeous and well explained. Although I’ve made artist books before, no one has ever explained some of the things I learned in this book.
Rachel has a lovely way of writing that makes you feel you’re in her studio. Made 2 of the simpler books already and looking forward to trying the others! Highly recommend for beginners and people with more experience as well.

Nicolina B Sobo: This is an excellent book on the topic of bookbinding! In the last month, I've purchased about twenty different art technique, theory, bookbinding, assemblage, collage, paper art engineering, papercutting, mixed media books, etc. Basically, I'm an artist ten years out of art school and feel a real need to refresh my techniques, approaches, tools, and means of combining my strengths within the different mediums of art is regularly employ to create. Of that vast library that has dribbled in to my doorstep, this book has already become a quick and ready favorite. So much is to be gleaned by this humble and knowledgeable bookbinder who combines a great sense of design and watercolor techniques to carefully teach the audience with both step by step text and photos. I have already learned a lot about different papers and adhesives, and their respective strengths. The book techniques taught in here are heavily emphasized on types that have paper covers. That is important for the beginner or more advanced book binder to know because there is much to learn here, without being weighed down by the more complicated bindings that rely on book board and cloth cover styles.
