Comments

marisa Rodney: Unlike another weird but true facts that has interesting and educational facts, this book is mostly trivial gimmicks like a “ a mom in town crocheted an entire costume out of yarn”… very disappointed in this book. It’s an embarrassment to National Geographic and the series which has some amazing books.

Lori: My 4 year old granddaughter enjoys reading this book. She said it’s very interesting and some things are weird.

Miss Jess: Good quality paper and printing! But it's just a book of random facts and some are very simplistic. Honestly I would have loved a bit more dept and background but that's coming from an adult. I think kids (5-10) would be fine with it.

Patty B: This book has a lot of little facts that are weird and/or funny. It really gets my ten year old interested in a lot of different topics that she wants to learn more about.

D_12: I was excited to get this book for my son, who loves random fun facts! Some of the facts are interesting and entertaining. “At a skeleton museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, U.S.A., flesh-eating beetles are used to clean the bones.”

Others are VERY unimpressive.
FOR EXAMPLE, “A mom in Ohio, U.S.A. makes her kids’ Halloween costumes entirely out of crocheted yarn.” Lovely. Give the Ohio lady a trophy. 👏
“A company made “werewolf fur” cotton candy.” “You can buy gummy vampire teeth.”
“You can make pumpkin flavored play doh.”

I bought a Christmas book at the same time and planned to buy a few more Weird But True! books but if they’re like this, PASS.

Daniel: My son is 10 and aging out of the fun Halloween story books, but likes books about facts. He really enjoyed all the interesting facts about Halloween and has been sharing them with friends. This was a good purchase.

JV: We've been looking forward to this one coming out. My son couldn't put it down and ended up reading it all in one day. As with the other Weird But True Books, the facts are short and sweet (about a sentence long) and full of colorful pictures. There were a few that we had to look up to see a picture of because there really wasn't a picture showing it but overall, we are really happy with this book.
