By: Mark Waid (Author, Illustrator), Alex Ross (Illustrator)
Kingdom Come is the perfect gift for graphic novel lovers! This Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition is of the highest quality, with its sturdy binding and thick pages making it easy to read and understand. Mark Waid's dystopian story is sure to be a hit with any recipient. Get Kingdom Come today and give the gift of a great read! Kieran J. Mcandrew: Spectre haunts the dreams of a Pastor to show him the dangers of a world where Superman has retired following the loss of his wife, along with other heroes of his era.
The world is slowly being lost to the new breed of mechanisms and the machinations of Luthor and his ilk. When Wonder Woman coaxes the Man of Steel back into this nightmarish future, they discover they must save mankind without the Batman.
Excellently written and beautifully drawn, with a watercolour effect finishing, this book is rendered solidly and should be an essential part of any collection.

Frederick Baptist: While the plot itself is pretty simple and straightforward about the older generation JLA coming out of retirement to bail out the younger generation of "superheroes" from their deadly mistakes this overall offering is one of great love and respect by two obviously knowledgeable and studied fans of DC comics from the very beginning and unsurprisingly comes across as a heartfelt homage to the entire history of DC by Waid and Ross. Waid uses the literal interpretation of the final book in the Christian Bible, The Book of Revelations, and Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" as inspiration for this tale and while not the best DC story ever told it still works well as an homage to DC history with the Epilogue section being the best of the story in my opinion and as a great showcase for Alex Ross' frequently jaw-dropping artwork. I found myself spending a lot longer reading this relative to other comics as I just had to slow down and stop sometimes just to take in the great art. There is so much going on in this comic that it rewards repeated reading just to be sure you don't miss something from the previous read. It's this reason mostly that I decided to get this deluxe edition as it's a...

Damhrok: One of the best comic ever.
First of all, this edition is great. It was in very well state, really a new one. The books feels pretty good in touch, and it is easy to read. The feelling you got by touching the pages it is spectacular. They quality of these pages is really a one that deserves the deluxe edition name. The story itself is very touching and well written. I like it specially of how the Captain Marvel is portrayed, its role in the story is one that I didn't like in the first place, but after reading it I can accept it and accept that end. I have to recommend this comic to everyone looking for a good story. Also it looks very cool in my bookshelf.

Kindle Customer: This is perhaps the greatest superhero comic of all time. Alex Ross's art style is genuine art both as comics and also as stand alone images. Mark Waids story is critical of the superhero genre which predated it, but balanced and very much in love with it. The characters, having aged and gone through some tough times are very different but still recognizable and no hero is lauded or hated over others to artificially raise or lower another. I loved this comic so much that i gladly loan it to anyone i know who has even a passing interest and at one point sent a copy to distant a friend simply so he could read it, it's that good and was worth it. The Deluxe edition holds loads of fun extras which only made me appreciate the comic all the more, but honestly, any edition of the story is worth getting.

Amazon Customer: Like an earlier reviewer, my comments pertain specifically to this edition - not the merits of the written story, or the skill of the artist.
In my case, I haven't read any of the other collected editions of Kingdom Come - but I have long-since owned the original 4-part series from when they went to print (which this edition collects), and had recently considered replacing them with a swanky new hardcover volume. I had heard numerous criticisms of the Absolute edition, so I plumped for this 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition based on the mostly encouraging feedback I had read.
I'll cover the bad points first:
When compared against the original 4-part series, the print quality of this Deluxe Edition usually comes in at second place. It's not disastrous, but some of the panels, and darker hues or gradients in particular, show distinct graininess that was definitely not present in the original run. This is not evident on every page, however. Similarly, the colours are sometimes slightly over-saturated - so gentle sky-blue hues sometimes become slightly garish and lose something in their reduced subtlety. Likewise, colour palettes often feel a little 'crushed', as...

David Swan: If you’re a big DC fan like myself but don’t love the current output maybe it’s time to look back in time about 20 years. My God, has it really been 20 years? I’m getting old. I would put Kingdom Come in my top three DC storylines of all time alongside Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns. Kingdom Come is an Elsewhere story that takes place a few decades in the future. Superman is a bit thicker and graying around the temples. Green Lantern sits in his Emerald City in the sky waiting for any possible alien attacks. The Flash appears as a perpetual blur and seems barely a part of reality. Batman is advancing in age and requires an exoskeleton to move about and Wonder Woman, though showing no sign of aging, has grown much more cynical and hard. The world is mostly “protected” by the progeny of the classic heroes and they don’t hold to the same squeaky clean values as their parents.
Kingdom Come is a very dark story but it’s kind of the antithesis of the recent Injustice which is also dark. In Injustice, The Joker commits a horrific crime against Superman and the Man of Steel snaps, killing the Joker and starting down a path of ruin. In Kingdom Come The Joker...

claudio santarini: In tutti i sensi,
